Re: Ceramic coatings

I'm not sold on combustion chamber coating, the head has to go somewhere, and blocking heat transfer to the water jacket, or cooling fins seems counter productive to me ? An interesting point. My main reason for wanting to do it apart from not running forged pistons is that I have cooked a few valv...

Ceramic coatings

Just found a local mob that do cermaic coating and am thinking of getting my combustion chambers and piston crowns done, they can also do a skirt coating to reduce friction. My engine is blown and this year the budget does not extend to forged pistons so I'm thinking that this could be a good idea. ...

Re: '56 Oval

I've been pretty busy over the past few weeks trying to get the shell and running gear finished so that I can make a start on building the engine. The body is pretty straight and only needs a few small patches welded in but having cut out the rear floor (for a variety of reasons) I needed to make up...

Looks like a headlight cover to me :D and is that a grill of sorts in the last pic  Funny you should mention that, I'm in the process of designing a front air dam for it, something along these lines... https://fbcdn-photos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-0/p240x240/10922638_6743942426...

Re: Class Confirmation

Yup sounds more than confusing. :D Not that i'm not already confused (that's an understatement). If the car cannot be in Production or Gas Coupe, and it's not eligible to enter Altered Coupe what class should it be in? It seems to be in no-mans-land. If it is not eligible for any classes does that m...

Re: Class Confirmation

Could go for a step pan, if I knew what that was :D Momec3, I agree thats exactly what it states, however I think I am specifically excluded from the gas coupe class. Here's some further (pertinent) info that I missed out in my first post. (sorry it was very late) Production class states: The follow...

Re: Shock absorber selection

Mick, I simply have ex-wreckers coil-over struts and Billies under my Bug, with poly bushes. Standard fast road/hill-climb stuff. I reckon you will be fine with gas KYBs or similar all-round. Run plenty of caster... two shims ;) Cheers will take a look at the KYBs. Think I might already have two sh...

Re: reconsider please

A pont to consider and somewhat relevent is that there is already a precedent here in Aus with the unlimited NT speed limits. The Stuart highway is somewhere with no emergency services at hand and in parts is as equally remote as the lake if not more so. There was an interesting study carried out th...

Shock absorber selection

Did a bit of a search on what shocks people are running and did not really get much info to go on. I'm ready to buy my shocks and am interested in what people are running and why. Eg gas / oil / hard / soft / etc Obviously Lake G is a pretty flat surface but there are undulations and a dip to contan...
