Re: FEET FORWARD AG1350

I just saw this thread. I'm a big fan of FF as I don't fold up too well and head first is as bad. I'm looking forward to watch this build come to fruition and run on the salt. The best of luck with it.

Re: theTRUTH

I'm sorry to see you have decided to go head first. But its your build not mine. Good luck with it. I'll keep following to see how it turns out.

Re: theTRUTH

A lot of cars run water tanks rather than a radiator. Most of them seem to use the tank as ballast and / or weight distribution. If you go head first you might take a look at Mark Bjorklund's twin Ducati. He is a big fan of duplex steering and it does make for a very tidy and low front end. https://...

Re: theTRUTH

I was digging through some photo files and found this. I've no details but I think its relevant to this thread. It ran at El Mirage around 10-12 years ago. The steering fascinated me as it was bearings on a track. Again he showed me some photos but the details are lost to CRS. It was retired because...

Re: theTRUTH

I'm not 100% sure. I know it didn't do any harm. I saw a video on land racing about drag. Round versus aerofoil. They aren't pure but 129 to 131 with no other changes can't be sneezed at.

Re: theTRUTH

I have ballast in the sidecar wheel area. The sidecar wheel suspension ( I was advised by Tom Evans when I went to a solid aluminum sidecar wheel to use suspension) is made from 1/2" and 3/8" steel along with about 30 lbs. of leaf in order to meet the 10% of the OA weight be on the sidecar...

Re: theTRUTH

I'm trying to remember but my sidecar weighs around 475 lbs. There is no flop or handing problems. Truth is it doesn't want to turn. Turn out at Bonneville at 60 or so and let go of the bars and they immediately straighten. Some years ago at El Mirage the kill switch activated and as it was a good r...

Re: theTRUTH

Mine'a at 45*. Goes straight as an arrow. So straight you have to make an effort to get it to turn. If you let go of the bars when turning it will straighten itself.

Re: theTRUTH

Yeah. I just used the fork tubes (shortened). I took a piece of 1/2" flat stock and cut two lugs for the axle mount. I simply cut a couple of slots in the fork tube and welded them in. I also cut 4" out of the stem. I originally had the bars as a T coming up between my legs but the guys in...

Re: theTRUTH

I'm no expert either. I built my LSR sidecar mostly out of bits I had laying around. I cut down forks from a 650 Kawi. Head angle is 45deg. It isn't anywhere near as fast as you are planning to go No suspension. I found it unnecessary. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/833/img2635t.jpg

Re: theTRUTH

Fascinating build idea, I was wondering why not use standard forks cut down to what you need? Front suspension is, as you already know, not necessary.

Re: Universal chassis

Dr. Goggles. It was a brief but enjoyable meeting. If I remember rightly we we pulling up El Cajon pass. Bones bring the Weslake back The salt needs more singles. Nevada seems to be nothing but uphill no matter what direction you travel.
