Re: ebay

The record of that cars chassis number is somewhere in Canberra but because the people empployed there find it simpler to look in the computer base they only relate to that. I had a car called a Palladium, built in the UK in 1923. it was imported to WA in 1924 and the record exists in Canberra of thi...

I saw Leroy Yelavitch at Emerald on the ABC new resplendent in his DLRA T shirt.. gladly he was dry and as someone who worked in the mines around there i can vouch for what ...

Re: ebay

Regardless of the end use for the vehicle you will still need a permit to import it into Australia before any shipping company will put it into a container these days. This makes the proposition of buying a car or bike for racing off of such places as Ebay very risky. Whilst the deal may look very ...

Re: Water Injection

No, what i meant was that you do not cool the air intake on a diesel because it is the heat from the compressed air ( on the compression Stroke) which ignites the diesel charge. You don't want to cool the intake charge down. Being in Australia I guess you have never had to try and start a Diesel in...

Re: Side mounted engine

My rule book was printed in 1997 so I need a new one  but after perusing the IMSA supermodified rules ( they have sidemounted BBC's) I have been thinking of not running a flywheel at all. A shaft connected to a clutch device on a transaxle will allow me to sit the engine further forward becaus...

Re: "THE ENTERPRISE "

Very Very interesting picture Greg. BY the look of the flooring that picture was taken on one of the sloops that they used to sail the car to and from Auckland as the roads were not of any standard to tow the car up there. Also from the stains on the front cowl the chicken coop has been " on a...

Re: THE LAKE WITH NO NAME

I watched the TV show about Bob Jane. I wonder if he would allow speed trials in the Thunder dome? The man needs an excuse to smile again. http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2008/05/28/bobjane470_narrowweb__300x319,0.jpg Europe has seen speed trials done in the same type of track. Such as this, the Forme...

Re: Side mounted engine

Thats what i was thinking. The engines are long so the flywheel and trans will in a plane behind the rear of the seat. if i mount the engine beside me ,there is plenty of room to go forward in the driving position. I've seen three different cars go up with blown flywheels. It happens in a microsecon...

Side mounted engine

A lot of effort has been put into side mounted engines over the years (the engine beside the driver) and because I have several Vintage engines (L6's) here i am thinking of building a chassis with the engine canted over or laying flat beside the driver. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?. i envi...

Re: ebay

Bring it in a parts car,not a car that is going to be registered . You shouldn't need to worry about mods etc because it would be outside the rules and is never going to see a roadworthy test. . The duty is only 10% ( over 15 years old?) . Cleaning on the wharf ( a friggen scam!!) should only be $15...
