Re: Four Tracks for 2018
Agree with everything Bones said (...I can do 122.5 mph and be off the track before the one mile...) Before we contemplate 4 tracks, and with the utmost respect, Track 2 has never been 'fully' operational - not timed over 1 mile, sometimes GPS only, sometimes just outright closed, return road not op...

Re: Travel from WA
Here is a mud map via Minnipa. Apparently it's missing a triple caution right hand turn...but so long as you have reasonable brakes you won't get lost. There has to be a very good reason for us to stop at road roadhouses that don't serve high flow diesel. Minnipa has fuel but is only open 'office ho...
Re: APS-G 100
Assuming zero tailwind, how much RWHP would be required to achieve 128mph in that chassis, or to rephrase the question do you have any Cd or CdA estimates?

Re: 125cc 2stroke special construction
Don't worry about the weight. Lack of weight will not help here-- maybe when you are loading or unloading the bike. You guys have a lot more experience on the salt than me but my understanding is that with relatively low powered bikes the rolling resistance becomes a factor to look at and a lighter...

Re: Billet CNC Turbo Exhaust Housing
Yes back pressure was a bottleneck with the original, deciding how much to increase the A/R was the challenge. Think I got it almost spot on, boost threshold is damm close to what my spreadsheet predicted. The motor is much 'happier' now, boost pressure is higher than exhaust pressure.

Billet CNC Turbo Exhaust Housing
A few dyno pressure measurements and some engine simulation determined that a different sized turbine housing was drastically required. The factory has no turbine housing A/R options available for this particular turbo so I had no choice but to make my own. I considered 3D printing lost plastic cast...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015
Not sure when the results of this new NASA mission will be available, but it will no doubt will be of benefit to many including DLRA. Seems to be in test and calibration mode at the moment but the outcome is promising: 'SMAP to map the entire globe with high-resolution ([edit: soil] moisture) radar ...

Internet at the Lake 2015
Optus has kindly sponsored a VSAT terminal for our use at speedweek this year. I have organised an event grade Wi-Fi setup to compliment it. The response from my personal adviser: "I'll have to bring my iPad charger". I know this will spoil some of the feeling of 'getting away from it all'...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015
Someone has the interweb sorted for speed week 2015. I also have organised a two sector Wi-Fi setup that should cover most of the pit area.

Hey Rick, nice to meet you guys yesterday.
Allan, small world! Your BSA in the background....sorry about the rocks and dinky toys I put down the exhaust pipe...and looks like your are about to be lapped:

Re: Startline Volunteers Needed
I really don't want this to be taken the wrong way, but it will no doubt be more difficult to fully compare flying 1/4 mile times with flying 1 mile times such as the approximate (small bike) comparisons in this graph below. It has been discussed to extend the track 2 finish point by half a mile to ...

Re: Slicks on salt
I had about 2 % wheel 'slip' in top gear last year with a small bike detuned to 35 HP and slicks. They were the only things I could find with a high enough speed rating.
Hope that helps,

Re: Engine simulator
Hi Gary, Screenshot of my own home brew spreadsheet simulator. The plots are the simulation of HP & boost vs actual dyno and datalog. There is not a lot of science behind it, simply VE% x RPM x density. Reasonably accurately simulates boost onset and turbine AR changes. I find it very useful, it...
