Re: Shock absorber selection
Doesnt more caster give corner jacking if your in the shit and need to turn the wheels ? Lowering the VW, as with most cars you lose caster... we're putting back what we've lost plus VWs are light in the nose - only around 160-180kg over each front wheel - so it's not like we're lifting a Chev bloc...

Re: Fire system nozzle positions
Hi... I have one nozzle either side, mid-way up the rear firewall in the engine bay (2 total) aimed at carbs, one in-cabin nozzle under steering column aimed at my nuts. All lines are within car (installed on cage) with only the nozzles showing into engine bay. Bottle across car in back seat area. T...

Re: Shock absorber selection
Mick, I simply have ex-wreckers coil-over struts and Billies under my Bug, with poly bushes. Standard fast road/hill-climb stuff. I reckon you will be fine with gas KYBs or similar all-round. Run plenty of caster... two shims

Re: reconsider please
yeah good idea for the re-introduction of a sub130MPH 'street class' but it does open up discussion about safety
I've already blown lots of money building a dedicated 'salt' VW but it would have been far easier to simply run my other road-reg track VW for a year or three

Re: AUSTRALIA Snowy Mountain 1000
Hi folks the Snowy 1000 is on again 22 Nov 2014 at Cooma Airport in the NSW Snowy Mountains
Last year, this was a well-run event with a good variety of cars, from my Beetle to Commodores/Falcons and even a Pagani Zonda! Google that one!
Hoping to go faster and quicker this year!

Re: Rule Clarification-Requirement clarification request?
wow, RGN must've said something nasty via PM because I reckon everything he discussed in this thread was insightful, clear - even when the rules aren't - and relevant, even when given 'attitude' by other participants So, am I allowed to have my trusted mate sit in MY car when I am tuning/working on ...

Checklist?
I know there is a chase/support vehicle checklist (lights, tarps, fire extinguishers, radio etc) but is there a more general checklist of camper/competitor requirements?
Will it be mailed, or posted up here (or FB)?
In particular:
Do we need a personal dunny on each camp site?

Volnteer register?
Hi folks, How do I log-in for my volunteer session? I recall last year (I think?) an on-line volunteer register?
