Re: theTRUTH

Hi Guys, Big day! Got my first LSR tire ... time to get serious! http://www.russelllowe.com/PhD/theTRUTH/theTRUTH_GoodyearEagle_25x4pt5.jpg Will be a little skinnier than the 17" slick but with a greater contact patch ... might help with traction ... and definitely cope with the extra load from the ...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi Jason, thanks but I think I've found something a little closer to home (Sydney/Newcastle area). Hi Richard, that tipped the balance ... I ordered a D2954 today ... do you mean 2" in diameter or radius? With a 140 link chain I have about 1" clearance between the tire and the swingarm (just thinkin...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi All Another question for ya ... I've found a supplier of LSR tires in Adelaide, but now I'm struggling to find a wheel rim to suit ... For the D2870, which is rated to 320mph, I can use a rim between 5.5” – 7.5” wide. But the sticking point is that it needs to be 18" in diameter. I've found a 18x...

Re: theTRUTH

Hey Harky, The thing about race car wings ... F1, Supecar, Touring car ... is that they need to work at a range of speeds. There has been some cool #cheating in F1 where the mount for the rear wing was made weak so that it flexed (altering the angle of attack) and created less downforce/drag at high...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi Dave, Yes, been reading about wings on the GP bikes, cool stuff. I also like the center fin ... but mine will be more like an aeroplane with the fin mounted on a spar behind the rear wheel for maximum leverage as/if the bike goes sideways. The wing will also look more like an aeroplane tail being...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi Guys, I'm told this is a very slippery shape. http://www.russelllowe.com/PhD/theTRUTH/theTRUTH_YoungBody60pcElevation.jpg It's a Young Body 60pc with the bottom half displaced a bit and tilted 3 degrees forwards. From behind ... http://www.russelllowe.com/PhD/theTRUTH/theTRUTH_YoungBody60pc.jpg U...

LSR Tires for Mockup

Hi All,

I'm after a Goodyear D2870 – 30.0x9.0-18 tire for mockup purposes ... to buy or borrow ... it's so I can confirm the bead design will work on the wheels I'll be getting.

It's for the rear of theTRUTH, the LS3 V8 powered bike I ran in 2019.

Cheers

Re: theTRUTH

Hi All, Big favour to ask ... does anyone out there have, or know someone who has, a Goodyear LSR tire that is past its used by date, damaged, or otherwise unserviceable, that I could buy/borrow for mock-up purposes? My main concern is the fit of the bead to the rim ... making sure the wheels I get ...

Re: theTRUTH

Hey Stayt'ie, good as gold thanks ... looking forward to 2020! I'll try a search ... what is Slims site? Chris. Yes, a vertical wing is definitely on the cards. But I'm thinking about hiding it in the wake behind the rear wheel (we get 10" back there to play with). It would only come into play if th...

Re: theTRUTH

Hey Chris, Lead is the generally accepted way to go, with no drag penalty like you say ... but I'm hoping for something like 200kg of down force which, in my situation, runs the risk of getting the center of aerodynamic force ahead of the center of mass. With aero there is negligible mass. So it's r...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi Guys, It's been ages since my last post, snowed with work etc, so I reread my list of things to do for next year ... and funnily, the one thing I have been working on isn't on the list; a new rear frame to mount a giant wing. I imagine this might be a bit controversial, and I haven't settled on t...

Re: FEET FORWARD AG1350

Hi Harky, looking great! Will you be using a rocker system to multiply the travel of the linear actuators? I thought just one actuator would be ideal, then there is no chance of one being up and one being down. Keen to hear where you get them from because Ill need one for my auto clutch for next yea...

Re: theTRUTH

Hi All, I thought a nice little post match debrief would be in order ... It was good to get answers to all of the unanswered questions I had before I left. Q1. Would I get it finished? A1. Yes! Monday afternoon in the back of the truck ... Scrutineering went smoothly, it went through on the first go...
