Re: Phase out of leaded fuel by September 2019.

Terraplane runs on VP late model plus 113 octane leaded, our engine is 14.7 to 1, so next year will be our last year in the gas class. Our intention is to send our carbs away and get new metering plates for methanol then go through more dyno work to make sure our fuel system is up to it. The other o...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Well, been a while since ive put up an update. Managed to break my leg at one of our recent Terraplane work/drinking meetings so thats not helping us get the car ready. The good news it should be good as new in time for speed week. Finally managed to land 2 MT Bonneville back tires, the bill for tho...

Re: theTRUTH

The terraplane with the 400 small block chev used a 50l water tank (beer keg) it worked fine. 70 degrees c at the end of a 3 mile run. And almost 90 after a second run with about 2 hrs cool down time. In saying that with our new motor we've installed a second 100l tank mostly for balast and linked t...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

If two wraps of 100mph tape increases the rating to 200mph then it is not exponential. It is linear. Just saying...sorry, couldn't help myself. :) Gaz, a man like your self, I thought you would have been paying attention to the details. There is a plus " +" after the 200. Just saying....

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

That's actually 100 mph tape. I've been informed buy one of our technical experts that if we put 2 or more wraps around anything, it increases its rating exponentially and will be good for 200 mph+. With advice like that on hand, were confident well have what we need to hit some goals next year.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Had some progress finding land speed tyres, So, I thought I would share what i've found. Goodyear eagle land speed tyres can be found easy enough through summit racing. No 16" ones however. So Big Knob gave me a lead on Mickey Thompson's who have 4 different sizes one being a 16" and a cou...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Yep, no point stopping now. The parts hunt continues, may as well try to build it for 200mph We managed to find some near new goodyear land speed tires off an old blue E type jag for the front end. Some of you may have seen that car around. Having all sorts of trouble trying to find some 16" re...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Well, We had a little bit of carnage as expected, got real hot that's for sure. You can see why the compression was down in cylinder 3 and 4. There's not many sports where you hold the throttle wide open as long as this salt racing, so i guess we learnt a bit more here. We need to pay more attention...
