So happens I live in Qld. If you were to post the winning bid I could pick it up for you. After that you could collect from here or wait until I am heading your way. Alternative is to buy a suitable chassis closer to home, which is probably your best bet. As mentioned in the posts, jap utes are &quo...

Plenty of shops that shorten axles, some do over the counter, ratio of your choice. Especially 9" Ford but they weigh and rob power. BW lighter but probably not cheaper. Dont forget the power needed to push a wide body through the air, you may need a slower ratio to get more speed.

THANK YOU DOC. I fell in love with this car all those years ago and haven't seen it for decades. It was the best looking car around and went like the proverbial. Looks beautiful in this shot. Where and when was this pic taken? Brings back memories. Catalina Park, Warwick Farm, Bathurst at Easter. NS...

OK> Tonner chassis, driver where engine is/was. Engine behind, short shaft to diff. A nice body like the old Frank Matich Traco Olds, that was a brutal car. At Bathurst it got left behind on Conrod by David Mc Kays Ferrari 250LM but up the hill it was sensational. The Traco was fantastic at Catalina...

Yes, gogs, I was following your thread. Generally, I cannot fault it. My only reservation was engine but that is a minor (ha ha) thing. Any engine will do if money is tight and as most of us can't afford a veyron engine most of us won't have one. What I see at the lake is a lot of everyday blokes wi...

Ed Zacary! I've driven enough trucks and vans to appreciate the aerodynamic factor. I envision a liner, using readily available parts as much as possible. The way I see it, parts that cost real money are tyres, steering, rear end, chute and the big one, fire control system. This is due to my lack of...

My goal each year is simply to be there. I would love to build a car, and I know what I'd build, but lack the readies. Thankfully, I can afford to dream.

Gday Max. Like yourself, my first trip to the lake was an eye opener. The general attitude was genial and questions were not fobbed off. The regulars are a mad but lovable lot, even Animal, lol. No prima donnas here. I used to live 3 minutes from WSID and (yuk) Eastern Creek Raceway and neither venu...

Why call anywhere? Especially partners, you need a break from all that stuff, so stay sane, leave all the disruptions behind behind. My first trip, 2004, I traveled with an associate, who later disqualified himself. All other trips have been solo. In the words of the Mac Davis song, I cherish my own...

I'm for it. $50 is pa is pin money. If we don't go to annual fees we'll go under, simple as that. What then? Watch the V8 circus? Who was it coined the phrase, Tweedledum and Tweedledumber?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there was an MG with V8 ex factory. Was it not called MGC? As I recall, it used the MGB body, but I don't know what engine.

I can't afford an expensive holiday, or regular trips to motorsports events, but I can afford an annual fee to keep our sport alive. All my holiday time these days is salty, without beach crowds, sad sacks, parking hassles, drunken canetoads or the usual holiday garbage. I get to see beautiful stars...

Leigh Russell drove a Suzuki hatch from Brisbane to The Lake with a race engine in the passenger seat. Raced it and drove it home. Smaller than a mini but went heaps better. What a story that joker is. The only reason to use mini parts is to set the Salt Lake Breakdown Record. BMC parts are sooooooo...

Sorry, peeps, but I have limited net access and have missed so much news. I relocated in January to canetoadsville and have to use the local library. I didn't know anything about the NSW meeting but probably would've missed it anyway. All the best to you all.
