Re: KIWI'S going to Bonneville next year (2013)

BTW here is Kent Riches account of his attempt at the supposedly "cursed" record of Burt's.... I set the gas record and Vesco told me not to run on Burts record, it was cursed. Ah what the heck, curse smurse, so I ran on it any way. It was a pretty spectacular 217mph crash they tell me. I ...

Re: KIWI'S going to Bonneville next year (2013)

Hang on.......... that is Eric Noyes and John Buddenbaum's "Buddfab" streamliner which holds various FIM records and ran 152mph with a blown 50cc Aprilia, and unless I'm mistaken that shot is from Paso Robles or Pebble Beach or something similar. Pretty shit effort by whoever put that arti...

Re: why all cow is flawed

I don't ride a bike in the DLRA, currently biting tongue. What I will say is that the coolest thing to wear on the salt is a full nomex. White, breathable, full cover. Stand around half the day in that, leave your race suit in the shade, five or so back in line put it on. There are a lot of people i...

Re: why all cow is flawed

"People parked at giveway signs, looking right at you, are just waiting for you to get within range, so they have a better chance of hitting you."

tick. Couldn't rationalize my crash, or shall we say "getting run over" ......

Re: Lake Gairdner Draft Management Plan

The Dry Lake Racers of Australia have an established history of responsible use of Lake Gairdner for the purpose of landracing. After extensive searching it appears that Lake Gairdner is the only practical venue in Australia for this type of racing as it requires a minimum uninntererupted eight mile...

Re: why all cow is flawed

Thanks Zork ,this was my point and Jon unfortunately no my Aus Standard helmet does not comply with the rules and you will not be allowed to run . I really hope some of the newer members are aware of this and dont get to the Salt with a non SNELL helmet ! Everybody who intends to run at Gairdner sh...

Re: 2 Parachute options

For my money I'd go one. There is every chance that the last and only time you use a chute will be on your 175mph chute test run, in order to run long course you have to be able to run 175mph in the three, if that's as fast as you think you'll ever go then I wouldn't be too worried about it....howev...

Re: more ebay

er hang, on win what? We seem to be at cross purposes here. I have never made any attempt to disguise my beliefs and interests in landspeed and yeah, I am an idealist. I am a wage earner and don't have access to a professional workshop. We spent a lot of time building a car in my garage after spendi...

Re: more ebay

Maybe it's just me....but I don't get it. If you're going to build a lakester the basic principles of aerodynamics are just a click or two away, that car is kind of like the racing class you're talking about, dinky. There is no cheap way to get involved in this gig and you'll end up feeling like a d...

Re: pit shelters for adelaide based racers

I stand corrected. I would like to point out to the assembled by-standers that the shelter in question is just a little more substantial than those you can buy and from memory it had the covering all the way down to the ground, am I right Greg?

Re: more ebay

I'm a little suss on that car being classed as a lakester as the leading paragraph of "special construction" says "modified production bodies are prohibited" and that looks to be using a production style body at the rear.

Re: pit shelters for adelaide based racers

Just speaking from experience Harky. You see lots of gabled shelters but you never see any shitty old lookin ones, whereas there's some pretty manky lookin ones with flat tops. The last two meets I have put mine up, and left it up the whole week, no problems. I've only been to five meets but I've se...

Re: Al Fountains Lakester is for Sale

I dunno Doc, Al's no skinamalink (that's him on the right) and a couple of taller team members have driven it too. Not sure if he has seat adjustment in there, another seat or what. Cheers, Rob I just remember Boris's article about it when he got in and then thought he wasn't gonna be able to get o...
