I will invest in the UHF hand held units as suggested As an aside I have about 350 samples od Cancer Council sunscreens to distribute when I get there Cant wait to fire the RZ up ...

Thanks Bob
To be clear

Do we have to have a support vehicle?

Or is there a support vehicle on course in any case.
We will not need a push vehicle.

I hope I am not asking the obvious

Support / Chase vehicle

More questions.Sorry Do we have to supply a chase or support vehicle and if so what are the basic requirements? We are taking an Iveco Van to house the Bike and gear. She is hardly a speed demon. Some one suggested we need a UHF Radio & flashing light etc Is that right? Or only on the test Track...

looks like MPS/G it is, unless we decide to do a run or 2 with no fairing.

Still a heap to do!
We are REALLY looking forward to our first trip to the salt!
I have a feeling it will become addictive

I hope your amazing project is all coming together in time

GREAT NEWS Trevor
Thanks for the update
I was starting to panic that after all the build up for our first run on the salt that we would miss out.

Bert Munro has a lot to answer for!!

Better get back to preping the Yamie!

See you on the salt

The RZ is certainly quick( as was the RG 500 Suzuki). Scott Guthries recors at Bonnevile still stands in 500cc class.(168mph I think)
Cant wait to see what we can get out of her. The original pipes are dogs and damn heavy.
The bike feels completely different with the chaners fitted.

I am told I can probably use V rated Tyres so long as I have the inspected before each run.

Interestingly I was advised against an RG 500 Gamma due to "frail: crank design.

We will certainly be testing the little yamies "frailty"!

Thanks for the advice
We are running an RZ500 - an oldy but a goodie
I think an XJ900 18" front wheel will fit which should give me more options

Thanks.
My concern was potential build up of salt on a treaded tyre.
I have a 16" front and 18" rear. Getting a high enough speed rating for the 16" may be tricky. I may have to go to an 18" rim on the front as well, if I can get one to fit.

Motorcycle Tyres?

As a new boy at all this I was hoping some one can forward some advice on what type of tyres I should be running at the salt.
Do you guys run slicks or a treaded tyre?
