Re: theTRUTH

How about a Top Fuel toothed belt drive off the crank back to a shaft behind the V8. Then get an SFI scatter shield for a strong clutch and then a drive back to the wheel, either chain or belt. A strong plate on the back of the block could stabilise the belt drive. Another from the front of the bloc...

Re: theTRUTH

Here's another variation on the unusual steering plan: https://xsgear.com/assets/images/collections/ambassadors/photos/superrat_9.jpg I have no idea how well it works, but it could easily be operated in a feet first frame. This bike has almost done 200 mph. It would be cheaper and easier to make tha...

Re: Volunteers 2017

All of which makes me wonder, what are the volunteer positions that can't be reliably filled?

New Startline Vans

While I'm having a grizzle about all manner of things, I might as well harp on a bit more about the start line van problem. I have already mentioned in the last couple of days what a joke the old start line van is. It is many years past it's use by date. Depending on how the start lines are laid out...

Re: Four Tracks for 2018

Harky, In the unlikely event that I weaken and come back in 2018 to run Track 2 again let it be known to one and all that I will not tolerate anybody, and I mean anybody , whinging, whining, complaining or worst of all, abusing, any of my volunteers. These pathetic ingrates will quickly find themsel...

Re: Four Tracks for 2018

DP, thanks for the map. That really helps. If we had a timed mile on T2 would you use it more than T1? I think if we started both tracks further south we could overcome most of T2's problems. With more surveyed points we could move the timing to suit the weather conditions and keep real timing happe...

Re: Four Tracks for 2018

Bones, this year I'm led to believe it was fast vehicles that spectators wanted to watch. I'm far from convinced that entertaining people in the pits is more important than giving everyone a fair number of runs. Apparently the speed minimum was 225 mph but don't quote me, I was never told by any off...

Re: Four Tracks for 2018

Thanks for your 2c worth Bones, I wish more people would comment. There seem to be two schools of thought about the number of volunteers we have available. Some say we never have enough, but my experience is very different, I never run short and many come back for more and Pete had to turn others aw...

Re: Newbie Bike Classes

Richard,

We look forward to seeing what you build. I know I'm labouring the point but whatever it is do your best to keep the salt off it, or at least easy enough to get back off it. Lots of plastic, lots of fibreglass and lots of 316 stainless! And a snail.

Cheers

Re: Bike Guys

Ronnie, Your comment about the lone wolf having to go to the back of the line after volunteering has me thinking that we should give priority to anyone who has just done a volunteer shift. Come straight to the Priority Line twice as your reward. The same rule applies on T2 or T3. And if you voluntee...

Re: Four Tracks for 2018

Lets get this working group started now. Who else wants to be part of it, either on this forum or with face to face meetings or by phone hook up or any combination of the three?

Re: Bike Guys

Years ago we didn't take a lunch break, which was fine by me, I just ate while I was on the go. The lunch break wastes four hours of track time every year. At it's optimum that means we waste 28 runs a day on T2 and 14 runs on T1. 42 times 4 is 168 runs that don't happen. Why do we persist with proc...

Re: Bike Guys

As you can tell, one thing that never changes and is getting very annoying is the start line van. It is worn out and useless and has been ever since we introduced the second track. We need to either have the two start lines converge so we can get by with one new van or have the start lines in differ...

Re: Bike Guys

Damn it, I hate it when I spend a long time composing a pithy and well considered response only to have it disappear when I press submit. Here's the quick version : Redyammy, you are so right but you forgot the shade! Having had my suggestions ignored or copped abuse by morons for years now I predic...
