Re: theTRUTH
Hey Russelle Look for Purple Sage Trading Post. Sumner has loads of info on his site. I want to do the heat exchanger deal on the new bike. I will try for 20L ( much smaller engine) I was also thinking a pump to circulate the water within the tank. My tank will be under the bike. What does the artic...

Re: theTRUTH
Hi Russell
How about a heat exchanger inside the water tank. Then the tank will not need to hold pressure.
Did you end up moving? I'll visit soon.
Bones
PS . Use the Bussa Russell.

Re: theTRUTH
Hi Russell Here is my 2c worth Greg is correct about the steering head angle. Not sure about 24deg though. 30deg is plenty and about 120mm trail I use 30deg on my bikes and have had no problems. The bike is very stable ( ask Greg) and will change direction at speed. Moto GP bikes will go 200mph and ...

Re: theTRUTH
Hey Russell
How are you going to activate the clutch?
Can you tack the backend together and put the motor in to check everything.
Hey-- you should buy a commodore with the same engine and then you would have a spare.
cheers Bones

Dave
While you are waiting for the engine parts to turn up there is a ton of work to be done on the chassis.

Re: Rookie 500mg build
Hi Denni dave Do what Pete says--- read the rule book and again Tread pattern on the tires doesn't matter. What you will need is the correct speed rated tire for the class. A 'V' rated tire would be acceptable. The tire must be rated for the record not how fast you will go, if you are slower than th...

Re: theTRUTH
Hey Russell Yes I will race at Gairdner. My mate Rod who comes with me wants another go at 200--- he's gone 185. The shaft should be drillable. Go slowly with plenty of cutting oil. Now that I am retired I can hang around for whatever happens with the streamliners. I'm thinking of doing some serious...

Re: theTRUTH
Hi Russell I don't think you need to need to press the spacers on to the shaft. Just make them a nice slide fit with some anti sieze. The bolts on each end are holding it together and the bearings are locked into the housings. The assembly will be like a motorcycle wheel. If you need a wider bearing...

Re: theTRUTH
Hi Russell Been keeping a bit of an eye on what's going on. I think Chris mentioned grub screws and shafts before--- DO NOT use grub screws or anything that will mark the shaft to retain the bearings. This will cause a huge stress riser. The same goes for where the spline meets the bearing diameter....

Re: theTRUTH
Hey Russell See if Hooper have bearings with a tapered sleeve to lock them onto the shaft. They may not be available in the size you need I think it would be better than using grub screws and putting stress risers in the shaft. Try to use metric bearings where ever you can. They will be cheaper and ...

Hey Glen,
It has to be legal because it is originally designed for a bike.
It doesn't matter it was later developed in karts.
I hear it's nearly done

Hey Russell
Yes--I use an SV 650 wheel on the rear.
What you might need to check is the load rating of the tire you want to use-- that engine is a big weight on the rear tire.
cheers Bones

Re: theTRUTH
Hi Russell The bussa IS the force that should propel a fast land speed bike :-) I think you are right about the rod end. The load is vertical and there will be enough steering lock. Not too much rake. Mine is 30* These bikes with 45* I recon are wrong. They are probable stable but you still may need...
