Re: Speedweek 2016

Hey all,

I did a flight over the Lake on Sunday 31st...... not a drop of moisture to be seen.

That obviously changed last week with falls of up to 50mm across the Eyre Peninsula.

I will be doing my next flight either this coming Friday or Sunday and will report back!

Cheers

Re: weather

Hey all, Sorry I didn't get back here last night. I took a very pleasant flight over the Lake on Sunday morning. The entire racing surface is covered with water, however (within the limitations of looking from 500 feet) it didn't seem more than a few inches deep. Other people may have a better idea ...

Re: weather

As already pointed out - very, very wet here.

I'm planning to fly over the Lake on Sunday. I'll report back tomorrow evening.

Cheers!

Re: Lake condition and forecast

Hey all,

Went over the Lake this afternoon.

Surface is dry - subsurface is wet. Smoooooooth.

If the current weather keeps up (and there is no indication that is won't), the surface should be as good in February as is was this year.

Pictures in the next day or so once I sort them out......

Re: Lake condition and forecast

Report from our local tour operator last week is that the track area is now dry and hard, at least as far as is visible from the shoreline.

I am planning a flight up there some time this week to confirm the "dry" bit.....

Re: Lake condition and forecast

Have done two flights over the Lake in the last couple of weeks. There appears to be between 4-8 inches of water, with multiple small salt mounds showing through the surface. Re: Lake condition and forecast

G'day all, Went for a well overdue flight over the Lake on Sunday. For context - we had about 10mm of rain just over a week ago. There is water on the Lake, as expected, but the three photos I post are of interest in showing the recovery since we have been there. The tracks are completely gone and t...

Re: Lake condition and forecast

Hey all, I did a recon flight up to the Lake on Wednesday 9th January 2013. The Lake is looking absolutely fantastic. Smooth. VERY dry. Salt to the very edges. The only problem I had is that someone had cut up the Lake under the ramp pretty bloody badly. I don't recall it being like this when I went...

Don't want to be too pessimistic - but there is significant rain forecast for the end of this week, and a high likelihood or rain next week......

Re: Lake Inspections 2012

Thanks guys. Yep, there are 3 photos there from Friday and one from the start of March. There were patches of water around the perimeter of the lake when I went over. On the original photos you can see different areas of shading on the lake - will be interested in discussing this with Plucka when he...

Re: Speed Week Date Poll

The suggestion given by the current manager of Mount Ive (who has been in the area his entire life) when myself, Plucka, Cookey and Smurf were up there was the first week in December.

Just throwin' it out there.....
