Re: SA Source for Safety Equipment

Found some reading on HANS that mentions the Hybrid systems - http://www.stockcarracing.com/techartic ... ewall.html

Seems that SFI-38.1 is pretty stringent, and any HANS that meets it should be more than adequate.

Re: '56 Oval

Made a start on something yesterday - fitting the electric winch into the trailer. Not much but something. Now at least I can get one of the cars out of the garage to give me more room.

Re: Race suits

Ahhh, think I might have found (part of) the answer. This is a good read about SFI ratings - http://www.profoxracing.com/pdf/SFI-Foundation-Racing-Fire-Suit-Article.pdf It mentions air gaps between layers offering additional protection - perhaps this makes up the shortfall between an SFI-5 suit with...

Race suits

Can anyone tell me if two piece suits are allowed? Reading the rules I can see that for my class the suit requirements are SFI 3.2A/10 or /5 with full Nomex underwear However, there doesn't seem to be any reference in the rules to whether two piece suits are allowed / disallowed. Also, reading into ...

Re: SA Source for Safety Equipment

The ones I've been looking at are rated to SFI 38.1, which correlates to the requirement of rule 3.A.3 - Driver’s Helmet Support. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/SAT-PR-LRG-10.jpg (This one here) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SAT-PR-LRG-11/ I just don't want to dish out a...

Re: SA Source for Safety Equipment

Cheers Cookey, They look much more reasonably priced. Looks like pro fox will be getting my $$'s. What's everyone using for HANS? been looking at the hybrid type setups, they look a whole bunch more comfortable than the more 'traditional' style supports. Anyone got experience of these or have any th...

Re: '56 Oval

Totally agree, the numbers we have are only an indication of the remaining cars. Our best guess is that this figure could be two or even three times higher - pretty much exactly the case with the sunroof RHD's here in Aus. We've only got a total of 34 cars listed for Australia, I'm pretty use...

SA Source for Safety Equipment

Need to start looking at sourcing clothing, lid, HANS, boots etc. Anyone know of a good source in SA? or have recommendations for interstate / overseas vendors.

I've enquired at a few of the mainstream outlets, but the price seems to be waaaaay over-flated.

TIA

Mick.

Re: '56 Oval

Finally finished my other project which now free's me up to start looking at the Oval again. If you went to Uraidla the other week you might have seen it there. For those who are interested, here's the thing that's been distracting me from working on the Oval... http://www.type34.com//images/photos/...

Re: '56 Oval

One of the guys at work also mentioned pressurising it, sounds like this is the way to go. I guess the most important part of whatever system used is the filters. Will do a bit of digging and see what there is out there. I like the sound of an off the shelf solution - like the ARB vent. Cheers for t...

Re: '56 Oval

Yeah I might be wrong with there being a number on the headstock. Made a little more progress towards getting to the salt next year. I splashed out and bought an enclosed trailer. Noticed it on ebay and decided that it was cheap enough to warrant a trip to Sydney to pick it up. I've been looking for...
