Re: '56 Oval

me again the Diathasu wheel barrow car, --- charade turbo blew through the carby , which they enclosed in a sealed box ( fuel pressure increased with boost ) I've seen similar home-brewed set ups to this before. Always look very interesting - great big welded up box looking thingo instead of a carb...

Re: '56 Oval

Originally I was keen to reuse the stock carby and supply a re-jet kit for it (making people to get carby mods done would probably not be a good sales point) The idea was the same kit for Bugs and busses. Then discovered that there was not enough head-room in the kombi engine bay to mount the charge...

Re: '56 Oval

Right. Before I can get moving on the Oval there is one other project I need to finish. For those of you who made it to the salt this year you might recall seeing my Kombi parked up by the lake. This is possibly the worlds slowest Kombi. It's a 1600cc early bay window (or more commonly referred to a...

A guy in Melbourne made mine, and he has the template for them. Can hook you up with the maker if you like.

Cheers John, that would be appreciated.

This is how us Poms do it...

My dad recently told me about a UK BBC doco that he saw called 'Speed Dreams'. So I looked it up. Been watching it tonight and am half way through episode 2 as I type this. In true BBC2 documentary style (a bottomless pit of cash funded by TV license funds) it's pretty well put together and well wor...

Re: '56 Oval

Thanks for the heads up Dave. I've got a shoulder bar as part of my cage so hopefully I will be able to position the belts a little better. I've also been looking at the 'hybrid' HANS systems which have an integral harness as they look to be a bit better then the type that relies solely on the harne...

Re: VW Speedweek Racers

Hi Burly, I didn't see Keith Poole there this year so have a feeling he didn't make it, I will email you Glens email address (I'm sure he won't mind) and I gave my email address to the Findlays as I promised I'd send them some shots of their car. If / when they email me I will pass your details on. ...

Re: '56 Oval

Okay. Just back from speedweek and inspired to get the Oval finished. It's pretty much sat in the garage for the past few years with no progress as I've been sucked into other projects but after yet another trip to the salt without a car I think I need to pull my finger out and get it done. Just rea...

Re: '56 Oval

I've been reading posts both here and on the US land racing forum, and I think one of the most appealing things about this sport, is the depth of technical and engineering ingenuity that is applied to challenges that land racing presents. Cheers, Totally agree. For me this is one of the largest app...

Re: '56 Oval

G'day Who. Removing the fan and alternator would certainly give an increase in power but I don't think power will be my biggest issue. My guess, and having not had any salt time with the car yet is only a guess [hopefully an educated one], is that my biggest problem will be grip, or to be more exact...
