PS One day I will join a auto based forum on which you arent a member - one day Aha... Ahaha... Ahahahahahahaha... It'll never happen! (Except for Street Commodores, of course!) I've been registering on car/hot rod forums since '96 or '97. There's not many I don't know about that are any good. Good...

So what actually happened at the lake?

Just so that I can sleep soundly at night, what actually happened at the salt.

Are Rod and the crew back yet?

Can we hear first hand what conditions they encountered when they got there?

Download the rule book, mate, and 'interpret' as best you can. I'd be more worried about the safety requirements than the body at the moment. If it doesn't fit in the class you thought it would, they'll put you in another one (e.g. Modified Roadster). If it doesn't pass scrutineering... you're screw...

Yep, I bet Rod and the boys are just as bummed as the rest of us. Would have been a tough decision to make, that's for sure. As of 10pm last night we still hadn't got hold of our other team members, so we're just assuming they've seen the sign at the lake entrance and will get the multitude of phone...

We've got two team members somewhere between Norseman and Port Augusta. Haven't been able to get hold of them yet. A camper van that we lose 50% on if we cancel tonight, or THE WHOLE BLOODY LOT if we cancel tomorrow. Like I said, I would have rather been none the wiser and rocked up to the lake. ......

We're still going. What part of the word cancelled do you not understand ? The event is OFF. No point in going and nothing to see. The bit I don't understand is why it was left so late. Our car is already on the way, we've booked flights a camper van and I had planned to go to Whyalla next weekend ...

Just checking the weather maps, there doesn't seem to be any record of recent rainfall. Is it just the edge of the lake that's soft? I remember last time I was there someone said the point where the track comes in is the only solid part near the edge. If you walked either side a few hundred metres i...

<blah blah blah...> But the rules they insist on sticking to that are written for another country and another century when no standard car could do that speed , and if it was modified enough to be capable of them it was so dangerous that it had to have huge modifications to make it safe too, show t...

I am happy to keep under 125mph, but as the class record is higher than this, does that mean I have to obey further rules. What Bob is referring to is the 'Street' class that has recently been created. It means you can rock up in your street car, and provided it's safe and you have a stack hat, you...

Thanks Bob for ya comments. So the question is, is the "Daytona" front a body lengthend 12" from cowl foward or a streamlining device? Norman I imagine it's a streamlining device. When they talk about 'from cowl forward', I think they mean the lengthening begins at the cowl and goes ...

Here's Mark's car with and without the nose. Maybe if he painted it red the scrutineers wouldn't notice it! ;)

Very cool news indeed. I saw Norm Hardinge at Summernats and he mentioned the Yanks were coming in a pretty quick Camaro. He didn't give exact details though. I can't wait to see the car and meet Dave Freiburger. I might be able to get some tips off him, being that we kinda (sorta in a mostly rounda...
