Re: Hot weather prep

yeah I knew full-strength was too strong so we did half-strength and made sure we had a piss every couple of hours. Seemed to work OK, we all felt good, but might dilute it down a bit more this year if those are legit published CFA guidelines for hot environments etc and not just guesstimates

Re: Hot weather prep

My team had a 'buddy' system. Ask your buddy if he's had a drink or piss in the last hour. If not - drink more!

My team was making and drinking powdered Gatorade ($10 from supermarket - makes about 10 litres) at half-strength all week. It puts back some of the salts/minerals etc that are lost

Re: AUSTRALIA Snowy Mountain 1000

yes I attended the Snowy Mountains 1000 in a VW Beetle very similar to my salt car (shares same engine) Cars must be street-reg which might restrict any salt cars from attending. Quickest time was a modified Nissan GTR - 17.xx seconds and 299km/h Highest speed was a Supra - 307? in 18.xx seconds, II...

Re: Keeping things shiny

I use lanotec and Inox: Lanotec on the body/guards and the Inox on items such as suspension arms etc

Only one year's experience for me and the Beetle but apart from a few mottled areas on some plated suspension parts, all good!

Re: ***YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP***

I've kicked in and I hope all other intending 2014 participants do the same Yes it may reduce the fun voucher count for a few weeks - especially coming into Xmas - but the amount being asked from all of us for this loan is only about one-fifth of my tow car's fuel bill for the event so no biggie in ...

Re: normal force a weighty issue

Going to have to disagree with you there. Yes, the contact patch is stationary and the top of the tyre is at double speed however that is in relationship to the ground. Nothing to do with centrifugal force which is the result of angular velocity. My original post was merely pointing out that the gr...

Re: Entry Requirements for 2014

Yeah 'highlighting' important new rules would be great for those of us preparing cars And what is the procedure for 'discussing' safety - such as the previous rulebooks' diagrams of inappropriate/unsafe harness mounting points and the shitty sharp-edged metal seats that will slice off an arm in an i...

Re: normal force a weighty issue

Centrifugal force is the dominant force in an LSR tyre. Do the sums on a contact patch size chunk of rubber at the aforementioned 311MPH. Scary. This force loads the entire tyre radially yet the actual contact patch itself is effectively being unloaded slightly by the ground pushing towards the axl...

Support vehicle - instant shade!

Hi folks, some of you - especially a few bike competitors - will remember the pop-up awning on the rear of my Toyota Hilux that tendered my yellow VW Beetle this year. The awning is a component of my GT Campers. I just want to let you all know that I've been playing with the design and now have a ro...
