Re: Cost of lead ballast
Um- the smelter will be some bloke wearing my trousers. Have done it (on a very small scale) before. I live on a 160 acre block and will set up the smelter a good distance from the shed, with an extraction fan so I can safely get close. In accordance with Qld Workplace Health & Safety requiremen...

Re: Cost of lead ballast
How does $2.00 per kilo sound? There is no freight, the depot is about 3 minutes from home.

Cost of lead ballast
G'day- what is the going rate for scrap lead? I've told the local recycler I'm in the market for 500kg or so, but would like to know the market rate before old mate says "That will cost you $$$$$$$$$$$
Thanks in advance, Denis

Re: FAMILY ORIENTATED REV HEAD EVENT SE QLD
Thanks Mick- big day (today) setting up- marking out both courses, safety fencing, hay bales etc. Had a mate with a Rat Rod Pontiac Something (about 12 feet wide and 40 feet long) do a couple of runs on both courses. He managed to "clean it" although he was a bit red in the face and compla...

FAMILY ORIENTATED REV HEAD EVENT SE QLD
I'm on the committee organising SB MOTORS IN MOTION next Sat. Oct 27, at the Kingaroy aerodrome. My main involvement is running a tarmac motorkana under a CAMS permit, but we have "stretched" the layout so that some of the local 500 odd hp Falcars and Dunnydoors can have fun too. We have c...

GAZ-are you able to list out the clauses which have changed, or will they be "highlighted"?

Re: Calder Park Thunder Dome Test & Tune?
G'day- I think it probably won't work for dedicated salt vehicles. On a "rally'" about 10-12 years ago, we ran the Calder flat track, the drag strip, and the 'dome. With good quality road tyres, (not the DOT legal race tyres I used on Targa Tas.) the Corvette hit 220km/hr before braking fo...

Re: ROLL CAGE DEFORMATION
Hi Rob-"sandpacking" worked well. Main hoop is done, and bends have less than 5% distortion. And , after putting my brain in gear, have answered the question in my first post. Have realised that the the reason I reached for the verniers after the first test bend, is that it didn't "lo...

Re: ROLL CAGE DEFORMATION
Hi Rob- it's p---g down right now so will check the angle tomorrow am. It would be 85ish- BUT I did a trial 300mm length, packed with sand blast medium, with ends welded shut, and the same angle bend deformed less than 10% Have cut, packed and welded the main hoop #2, so hopefully will be able to re...

ROLL CAGE DEFORMATION
Have started to build the roll cage for the corvette. I used a former I made years ago, and took it to the local exhaust shop, to bend up the "real" one in 44.45mm x .120 wall. One of the bends has deformed the tube to 39.5mm. With CAMS cages I have built before, I have worked on 10% max d...
