Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Might be a bit hard to see, I've been working on the wiring for the terraplane. A bit more goes into it than you realize when you start putting a couple of gauges in and the safety shutdown stuff. Not much else i can do while i'm stuck at work so this will give us something to start with when we all...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Ah! the famous Bob Ellis!! Well, I think we have most things sorted now and yes Chris's advice has been well received, all 3 team members are now on a first name basis with all the local bottle shops. Anyway you'll most likely hear from me in a couple weeks Bob, we'll finish putting the car together...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
I really didn't think the oil temp would be too much of an issue on a 5 minute run. Do you guys baby your motors and warm them up a bit before you go? Or do you treat them like a drag motor, chill them down, fire em up and send it? We plan on running 5w-40 full synthetic, so the warm up wasn't going...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well the body has had a bit of paint splashed around inside and is pretty much ready to go back on the chassis for final assembly and paint. We've decided we'll finish the car with primer only on the outside this year, as who knows what well change after we get our first run in. So as we have a can ...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Ha, yea we spoke about that possibility just last Monday. Our dyno guy suggested we do a loaded run for 3 min to simulate that situation. Also we have a decent 20 psi oil light under our noses. In theory it should come on before damaging too much. But it's all theory right now.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Headers ended up being just a set of custom shorties. I know that's not ideal but it was all the time we could afford to spend on this job this year. There will be another couple of feet of 3" coming out through the fenders yet, so while not optimal, it should still be a half reasonable high RP...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
The Terraplane made it into its first ever publication, nothing new for the blokes that follow the build on the forum but still cool. Cheers to Jordan and the FORGED magazine.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Motor is close to finished and we aim to put it on the dyno this week and give it a basic tune up. Keep it simple this year has been out approach, so its the run of the mill small block chev out to 406 cubes. We have made some progress on some basic headers, we were kind of forced to do this as noth...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well a busy couple of days, crossed a few more things off the list. Big expense for the team has been the new transport trailer. Body off the chassis, hopefully for the last time this season. Mounts for the fuel lines sorted and cage mounts. Also managed to find the original chassis number, so it wa...

The progress continues
Well despite being at work my brother has let himself into the "Terraplane" club house and got some more straightening done on the roof chop, looking quite good I reckon considering what I did to it with that 5 inch grinder. So far all its cost us a few wild turkey cans, but I have this fe...

couple more pics
We bought a trailer this week and have also been sponsored with a tow vehicle as well so things are going well for actually being able to get there. Still way more to do on the car yet and already we are starting make "next year" decisions as we will most definitely run out of time if we d...

And the roof is nearly done
Well it only took a light skim of poly filler to make the zipper lines disappear. Quite proud of the outcome considering the team's experience with roof chops is zero. Worked late on monday night and managed to get a coat of white primer filler onto it. Cheers Joe! 14657322_10154776642918109_3059211...

Front Grille
Well After getting an original grille off Jeff, a little panel beating and bolting it up, it was looking better than ever. However as we are entering in Altered class it is a requirement that the grill is blocked off. So rather than destroying the mint 36 grille we have, i thought i would try and ma...
