Re: Engine simulator
Very glad someone asked about an engine simulator, have been meaning to ask for some time. I have played with both Dynomation & Performance Trends Engine Analyser since the very first DOS versions in the 1980's, and both the current Windows versions. Not overly convinced that either asks all the...

Re: Methanol, Nitromethane,,
One thing Bob doesn't really drive home is that methanol (or nitro) increases exhaust mass flow over intake air mass flow........what goes in must come out. In my experience back to back methanol vs petrol dyno runs; methanol has significantly lowered the RPM turbo boost threshold and simply have si...

Re: heavy stuff
Sorry to wake an oldish thread in the middle of winter...In many years before today I worshiped a formula called DMR or dollar mass ratio: general mass * 1, polar mass * x, unsprung mass * 3 & rotating mass * 5. It was very useful for deciding where to spend your precious budget/time to lighten ...

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Traction is not a problem for this little bike with this power level. Yes, with any form of forced induction efficiency is the key.

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Nice work Buzzed. Compound turbo superchargers are definatley the way to go for the street. I have gone compound turbo turbo this year, works better for my combo at the top end. Discovered a significant amount of water in the plenum after the ice intercooler, condensation, thought it was a leak at f...

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Thats not so unusual, probably a bit of fleck in the oil from the non ferrous metals too, clutch basket wear would be the main source for aluminium only one to watch carefully for is copper , only copper in the motor is bearings , first hint of copper and its worth stripping the motor So true, but ...

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
In line with the parent topic 'Engine Development and Performance' sharing a photo of a simple additional full flow magnetic filter, this is after the full flow filter feeding the two compound turbos and look at the debris collected after about 60 dyno runs. The top shiny magnet is a new one and the...

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Surprised I didn't work this out sooner than I did, seems the wet track section (which the data log overlays almost perfectly with the satellite images of the wet mushy track and corresponding cooler air), not head wind was responsible for the drop in RPM. A 50% increase in the rolling resistance se...

Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
I didn't notice this before, but zooming in on the air temperature after the intercoolers clearly shows the same trend in temperature rise slowdown. After reading Gregs comment about headwind, the best theory i have to date is that a gust of cold wind came along and slowed the bike down. The headwin...
