Classic Altered, I'm fairly sure we are allowed to remove them.
And cheers everyone, still not there yet but fingers crossed we make a run each this year.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
The concept and reality, it's come along way, still further to go. 9 months since we bought the car.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well we are now down to 2 weeks before race day. The hudson is pretty much done (for this year) its looking good I reckon. Last week we had the wheel alignment done. Balanced the left to right weights up and put a bit more lead up the front. Close to 50/50 weight distribution and the CoG is close to...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well good news!! the hudson drove around the parking lot today. So I guess we win with the tailshaft Chris. Still waiting for a picture from my teammates (I'm stuck away at work) but apparently it went well. And yea Lynchy, can't say I have seen too many 36 terraplanes around, i'm sure someone will ...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Still pushing on, most of the hit list stuff is done, even managed to DIY screen print a few T shirts for our fan club (our kids/grandkids). Right now the hudson has still not moved under its own power. Key items such as putting in the tail shaft has been slowing this down. The clutch has just been ...

Re: VN V8 COMMODORE-current E/PRO record holder
I wish we had bought this, our wives would be alot happier. But the Hudson is cooler still. No offence. I think it will take us a couple of years to get this fast, if ever. And Just for anyone contemplating a build, the hudson team has clocked up around 40k so far. That's with just about everything ...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Yea i know what you mean. The hoses loop down below cam level and they have a pcv valve inline. I saw that big knob racing are using the same things.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well first thing first . Its Alive!! fired it up for the first time the other day and it sounds mint. Totally got rid of that last little bit of "grandfather image" the old Hudson had once you see a couple of little header flames jump out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3gGPhDPCaI Its st...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Yup! i fully intend on taking up that beer offer. Couple more pics, should be firing it up for the first time tommorrow or the next day. Still trying to sort some scales and get a basic idea of weight balance. I know we are nose heavy, most probably lacking a bit of weight over the drive wheels and ...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Well yea the motor has all the usual mods to help encourage the oil back down ( windage control, valley prep and larger drain holes) the biggest restriction is the cylinder heads oil drain holes, a bit on the small side and are very close to the water jacket which lead me to the external lines. Idea...

Dyno Day
Well we had a day on the dyno the other day and it was mostly good and we learnt some things. We got a solid 500+hp for over a couple thousand rpm of the rev range, which should see us pulling through the gears ok. I think with the 6 speed tremec gearbox we have, we should be able to hit 150 MPH in ...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
John found this interesting FREE website that you can upload a 2D profile and it makes a video of air/fluid flowing over it to help work out your aerodynamics. All you have to do is have a picture of your car and edit the background out completely white and it does the rest its self. Not sure how us...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane
Yup we have both and the rear battery isolator switch has a second contact that will ensure the ignition and fuel pumps are all shut down even if the Alternator is still making current.
