Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
Hey Teef, I've got your motor, he dropped it off last night , I must apologize though . I'll have to replace some of the oil that was in it, probably only about 700ml .....I couldn't squeeze it out of the leg of the moleskins I was wearing , yeah light colored ones....... No worries, Greasy Jim. :wi...

Re: New to land speed racing
I was thinking about going down that road with a 90 degree change of direction then a chain drive to a toughened harley sequential box. That is of course until I found pictures of the classic Eddie Miller lakester. He had the gearbox output shaft passing under the rear axle then a chain drive to th...

Re: New to land speed racing
My 20 cents, 4.0 litre the only choice in a V8 is a 1UZFE Toyota. Depends on your budget but after you have gone to all the trouble of building with the 253 and running your said record the guy that will beat you in the future (V8 wise) will have a 1UZ. The 253 will never have the same HP per cubic...

Re: The Big Red Camaro
did anyone notice that they knocked off Leigh Fielder's record in A/gas Alt( I think) during that video, stout record that stood for about 12 years.

Re: New to land speed racing
See, there's this thing where you get someone excited about something and make them think you know how to do it, in desperation and not wanting to look foolish they work it out.........then you can copy them.... I dunno either  Hint.....if you tilt the drive train so it is angled up toward the...

uummmm, did somewon mention Seth Hammonds car, 8) , http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu218/Staytee/SDC11161.jpg Them's good people , very unassuming yet confidant, Tanis is a goddess. Bill "Sparky" Smith has traded records with them at over 300mph and spent a day or so talking about the...

Re: New to land speed racing
Hi, did I hear someone mention my name? My first car was a two-fiddy-free, good choice. Right at the top of E class, short stroke and there are hydroplane racers out there who've made them rev. Aussie 4 speed is the go, you don't want a box with the extension housing...or a five speed( unless 5th is...

Re: Review of 1993
Ah, good to hear Graham. The rules have changed since the Kenz and Leslie was running. It's one of my favorites along with the Batchelor designed Shadoff Special. Looking at Bernie's car again I wouldn't bet very much on my previous argument as from those shots it could well be a scratch ,purpose bui...

Re: Review of 1993
Hi Graham, where are you from? I see you are a new member. Were you associated with Greg and Bernie's car? The rules make no mention not being allowed to use a production frame. The rules say no modified production body, but I wonder how much production bodywork was actually on thier lakester. Graha...

Re: Review of 1993
Burnie Kelly and Greg Zwar were back with what I am assuming was the roadster with some new sheet metal attached to it, running in XF/GL class, so it was a Lakester, but does anyone have a better description? No OEM frame or body allowed in Special Construction............so it can't be a lakester ...

Re: Revisiting alternate sites
Thanks Greg. Anyone who wants to make dust with other members should use the PM function, public scraps and name calling don't look very good here. Discuss things logically, using facts or give it a miss. If you think Dave's ideas suck then the constructive thing to do is explain why.If his facts ar...

Re: Lake Inspections 2012
Thanks Plucka to you and Cookey and the others who have made the effort to go to the Lake and send reports. Up until now there has only been speculation and anecdotal evidence, that , combined with poor communication has increased tensions within the club and that isn't a good starting point for any...
