Nah, I'd wait a couple of months before you start, it really gets the adrenaline pumping as you get to the middle of Feb, and your car is still a pile of bits on the garage floor.

Paul has ordered a new set of LSR tyres, I have been looking at extra fire system capacity for the car. This year we are going to bring more spark plugs than the set in the engine. Maybe a few tweaks, but nothing too major. The tyres and the fire system is enough in one year.

The way I interpreted the rules, and the way my car is built, is that the scattershield and the bell housing do not have to be the same unit. Most people who are not running a relatively common small or big block use what Don has suggested. Once you leave the Chev/Ford space, there is not much aroun...

Just looking on the web, and the long weekend is the 14th of March in Vic, which would make racing March 14 to 18 2005. The following year is the 13th of march.

It is only illegal if you get caught. If you are doing something shifty, the risk is that someone will pick it up, and you will be disqualified. The chances of being picked up for a clip change on a Valiant is probably remote, except everyone knows about it now.

Modified Ute is on page 6-8, section 6.3.7, and Production ute is on page 6-11, and is section 6.4.6. Ute basically covers the coupe/roadster ute, with a one piece body, and pickup is a two piece body. The AU Falcon is considered a pickup because it has a seperate pickup body. Are you looking in the...

It would be classed as a Ute. If it fits production class, which it sounds that it would, it would be D/Ute, for example

I don't know about the part numbers, i am not even sure if the above is actually true. Trying to finds definitive info about ths sort of stuff is very difficult. I ended up using Toyota injectors from a larger engine.

Norm, Brian Nicholson has a pair of Falken tyres about this size, that he used on the Falcon last year. We borrowed them for the belly tank on Wed this year, but they didn't get on with the car, which was all over the shop. Mark Bryan with the black XW has a set of Pirelli's that he uses, that are a...

We had one car using a GPS this year, as the tacho was killing the motor, we also have had air speed indicators from planes used as well. Generally speeking, use the tacho with a dream wheel or a formula to work out the speed from tire diameter and gearing.

I'm trying to build one for my hot rod, as the needle has fallen of the existing one, and I can't find a match after 4 years at swapmeets. Don't know if it will ever work, but it is simple enough in theory.

Some changes have been made to the above. Chris Hanlon corrected, Bob Bowman added, Tony Berthun added because Mark Hadfield has been reclassified as a Gas Coupe.

I think that your proposed suspension travel is a bit excessive. You only need enough to stop the bike shaking your brains loose, which at your relatively slow speed will be a problem. I would think that 25 mm of travel from a static loaded position would be enough to flatten the harshness out. My c...

Brian, the roof rails aid directional stability to production based cars at high speeds. My car ran 200 MPH with no suspension, and runs fine. Up to about 70 MPH it is quite rough, but over that is no problem. I have thought that on a production car, either run it on the bump rubbers, or very close....

Brian, The rule is to stop a chicken shit weld being gound smooth, and covered by bog, and looking like it is fantastic, when there is only one spot of weld, some slag and bog holding it together. The other concern is that the penetration of welds is not something that a weekend welder can always ju...
