Re: Shaguar
The Arrow has landed!
I just got a call today from Sam at Westend Performance to tell me the the brand new Ford Cleveland Arrow block has arrived.
Now the discussion starts on rods, stroke, new pistons and bore size.
I feel like I am in my 20's again!

With this new 'girlfriend' I can try some tricks that I wasn't game to do with the old one. As Dirty Dave says 'Its only kinky the first time".

Re: Shaguar
Well, life goes on. My 32 year love affair with that block is over. I can never look at her the same way again. Not that I will get rid of her, I will just put her in the shed with the rest of my life's memories and try to move on. Done! I have brand new Arrow block on order! I need to bore it .030 ...

Re: Rule Clarification-Requirement clarification request?
Sorry Ralph but I don't think this is specific enough. I think we need to separate the cars from the bikes on this one. As far as cars go Bob has indicated that 'in the seat' is probably the only and safest option. For bikes I think 'in control' leaves too much to interpretation. A bike idling in th...

Re: Rule Clarification-Requirement clarification request?
Hi all, I have been a bit flat out interstate and have not been following this thread but have responded to rgn regarding his concerns. Please remember I do not make the decisions on rule changes, I only have an input to them and effect the required changes. I think we need to split the requirements...

Re: Shaguar
Mine wasn't a DART block but it was a NASCAR block that had done some time around Mt Panorama and numerous other tracks during the great days of Group C. Besides the cost it is sad that it is the end of and era of the old style of racing as well as the heartbeat of the OVAKIL coupe is now only in pe...

Re: Shaguar
Bad news... Bad, bad, bad news. The block is rooted. The rear cam bearing and some others are egg shaped at least a quarter of an inch. This effectively negates the ability to use needle rollers and a sleeve as there is no metal left to fit a sleeve into if it was machined out. I am considering my o...

Re: Shaguar
Them's fight'in words! Crank and rods are being crack tested once we find out what new rod bolts are worth. They can cost more than a new set of rods. You know which way my luck will fall don't you. Pistons are a bit scuffed but if the piston to wall clearance isn't too bad I will re use them and sp...

Just to be clear. The long nose pliers were not in the sump. They are merely for reference. That doesn't mean my engine building prowess is necessarily still not to blame. Guess we will never know!

I can take some comfort in the fact I have provided the forum with an avenue to display some members' wit and clever repartee, but only very little. I will delivering the load of scrap metal to Sam at Westend Performance tomorrow for his summation. I doubt he will be able to improve my current mood....
