OK, I can see this is a minefield but I have got to buy a suit for blown, fuel, over 175mph. What happens if I want to use a FIA approved suit, which the rule book says is OK because CAMS equivalent is OK. BUT what is equivalent? 2 layer plus undies, 3 layer, 5 layer plus undies? Has there been any ...

Yeah Bones, it is the same bloke. We did speak of you and your accident. I had a look at his old race bike and tried to rekindle the old flame for him to get it back on the track but I don't think it will happen. Nice bloke but! His wife saw me as some kind of redeemer of her front yard and was quit...

Bob, thanks for the info and your offer of help. I don't mind having to prove class but if there is no class in our rulebook it is a bit difficult. I am setting up the car with 4 x 3.5kg bottles, two for the driver compartment and two for the engine bay. I may put in a valve to switch one of the eng...

I would really like to know about the fire system rule changes at this point. Any hints? On the SCTA site, Categories are listed as below: MODIFIED SPORTS - /BFMS, /FMS, /BGMS, /GMS This class is intended for production sports cars as accepted for GT class which have been modified to such an extent ...

Keith, No sh*t! So we are to have royalty amongst us. If you think you had a good time last year, just imagine what next year is going to hold. Big Paul and I will be there in March '07, with the Shaguar (hopefully) so maybe you can give me a few tips on the finer points of Land Speed! We all look f...

I am not sure how it will affect my class. The DLRA rule book says BMS-Blown Modified Sport, is a gas only class whereas there is a fuel class of BMS in the USA. If I can't fit in BMS then I don't think I qualify for Comp Coupe or Altered either so I don't know what to do. If we follow the US rule b...

Yes, I am definatley on a roll. If I don't get any interruptions (wife, kids etc) this week end should be fruitful. Because I have to buy new injectors I am thinking of going the whole hog and getting methanol ones. They run 1200cc per minute each. I need 12 of the suckers (squirters) and they are c...

Big Paul and I have been down a couple of times (to the salt) and feel some sort of deep urging, in my case almost to the point of obssession to get back there. Not having a car to run would be unbearable again. That is what drives me. The sound of a blown/injected clevo at full song for minutes on ...

It is a Chinese one, and I forget the name of it. I will look on the week end. It is only DC so that means steel only, not aluminium. It did only cost $450 + GST though. My other TIG is an old EMF Pilot arc welder that is AC high frequency. These can be picked up for aroung $700 in that Plant and Eq...

I have a Henrob and found it cuts really well and welds good too. Similar to TIG type of control. I think I would need lots more practice to get as good a finish as you can with the TIG though. Getting the flame set right at 4psi is difficult, esp with my old CIG regulators that are probably at leas...

Late breaking news! - Change of plan. I went and bought a new TIG welder on Saturday, I couldn't help myself. As the car is so low I need to be able to lift the car up on a jack so I made up two jacking points under the front door hinge. Basically I holesawed through the sill and will weld in some R...

Seriously, Big Paul and I will be bending up the cage this week end with a helpfull young bloke I have come across who builds roundy round cars. His circuit racing expereince will come in handy. Once the cag...

Don't you worry. My credit card has taken a whipping since this salt lake racing thing got into my blood. The good news is I can justify anything, and seeing as though my wife is as good with numbers as she is with directions, she still thinks its the school fees that have tipped the card over the e...

Rev,
If I keep the silver then I would have to keep the nodding dog on the back parcel shelf. :)
I am thinking about Ford 'Toxic' which is the new XR8 colour. T hat should stand out enough on the salt and really drive the purists crazy!
