Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Moving on from the cage for a bit. We've mounted the new 36 grille from Jeff and massaged it a touch. We still plan to make a fiberglass copy of this one blocking off the airflow 100%. So because of that we've also installed a 50l water tank instead of a radiator up front. We hope this will do for o...

Ok, so we got a another dozen tubes into the cage, gusseting still outstanding and some sort of arrangement for the switches n stuff to mount in the middle. Clutch and brake pedals sorted and almost mounted including master cylinders.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

OK so a bit more progress on the terraplane. Spent a day welding on the roof chop still another full day of welding to go on that yet. Few more bars in the cage, another 6 or 8 to go yet plus all the gussets, Its a damn big job. Started nutting out the window net, it surprised us the 600mm X 600mm h...

Re: Travel from WA

We haven't worked out how we are getting there yet, still shopping for trailers and such. There's no real shortcut unless your in a desert racer. One thing we know, our team will be leaving in 2 waves. The slow and steady guys John and Darren first with the hudson. Probably on the Tuesday or Wednesd...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Got our new front wheels today. W rated. looks a bit lofty right now, but we have some of Rod Hadfield's drop spindles to go in yet, some new nolathane bushes and our lowering springs. Also there is no motor in the car right now. Id like to think in 2018 well be looking around to purchase some prope...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Yea ok Chris, good pickup. I honestly just read the manufacturer instructions and didn't give it much thought. East West is what they recommend as best option. But it won't work if we are lying on our side if i'm understanding the pickup arrangement right. And as you say the chance of being on our n...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Ok i need to know more about the leg restraint, is that another part of the seat belt/strap / harness or are we talking about a physical barrier to restrict the movement of legs in the car? And cool between yourself Dave and Greg i now know to go for some sort of GPS speedo. If anyone has any recome...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

I think we will be going on to the boot next time back and the pedal box. We threw our key components in and had a beer and that's where we called it for the day. The rear firewall isn't welded in yet either.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

At work again on nightshift, Thought i'd post a couple of the final progress pics that i never got around to doing. Had to outsource most of our bends so that slowed us down on the cage. Our bender does a good job to 45 degrees but that's it. Found a chinese man down the road from our workshop who w...
