Re: Speedweek 2016

Things have been insanely busy but I expect things to calm down next week - I will get some satellite images prepared next week so you have some additional info.

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015

Had a weird experience on the Sunday when we were setting up later in the day. We were heading back to the timing van from the 5 mile timing setup and at some point we could see a colour change on the lake surface and I thought it was cloud but the wheel noise changed as soon as we transitioned to ...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015

Here are the images from 30/03/2015 where you can now see the tracks (white lines) and pit area ;) Does this reveal anything of value? i.e. does the surface transition from a light colour to a darker colour correlate to any surface difference people experienced on the track? http://files.internetsco...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015

Paul how would staining from dirty water of previous floodings effect the readings ? change of reflectivity change the temps ? The short answer is I dunno ;) I would interpret it by seeing what is on the ground and "if" there is an issue which has a correlation to the dark patch. If there...

Bob - if you can't get the software here are some details - below is a sketch (pink line) of what looks like a transition from hard (South/West) to soft (North/East). Here are the GPS coordinates for that line (starting at the top) X Position (E) Y Position (N) 589816.0657 -3558171.221 590682.7366 -...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015

Light is good/ dark is bad (damp). All you need to take to the lake is a laptop with the TNTaltas software installed and the tif images that I have uploaded. I'll make a few months available so you know the history of how the salt formed. There will be a satellite image happening while speed week is...

Re: Lake Condition for March 2015

OK - here's a bit of processed data from the latest landsat 14/03/2015 compared to last year. What I have done is started the scale from two points 20000 and 25000 (this exaggerates differences in lake surface temp). These are values reported by the Landsat thermal imaging (BIG CAVEAT - I do not kno...
