Thanks Rob, Good find, well done. Geographic Information Systems is what I used to do for a living and am still involved with, especially deploying online. The guys in SA were early adopters and I have been over a couple of times with work. I've also just been able to get some of the base data sets ...

Sumernats Horsepower Hero

Dunno if anyone watched Gasolene on Channel 31 last night. They have been running a segment on 3 guys attempts at the Sumernats Horsepower Heros. The guy that won (with over 1800 HP!) said in his acceptance speach that he wanted to run at Speed Week and then go to Bonneville. The car was a late mode...

The Lake Gairdner catchment is only area 1 (Gairdner) within the Western Plateau Division. I had a go at overlaying some of this data. See here; http://www.dlra.org.au/images/tn-catchment.jpg What I want to do next is overlay the topographic data on the catchment as well as locate Nonning and Womera...

I wish we had an OS map of the state so we could see which way surface water flows. Surely the Dept of Water Land and Biodiversity Conservation would have one? (Say that 3 times fast!). I trawled online and came up with: m and Contact information Contact organisation: Department of Water, Land and ...

It's getting hard to keep track of the all the treads going on at the moment, but I'm I'm here now. so this will do. Firstly, some of you blokes need to just slow down a bit. Have a good think about what your going to put on here for the whole world to see. And Ben I think it's time to put your wizz...

At the meeting on Sunday there were a lot of people asking a bucket load of questions about the atmospheric, biological, geological and historical aspects of the Lake. The standard answer was, I don't know. Well it's about time we had some answers. I've spent a fair bit of time yesterday doing some ...

The Southern California Timing Association (the official organization for the Bonneville Speed Week) is made up of a number of clubs. Read this http://www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/SCTA_Clubs.html . It is a lot more formal and they also have a points system that comes out of this. (Something that we ...

Yep watched that. Evidently the Bugatti is advertised at being capable of 250MPH, so of coure these buggers just had to make sure it could it. This being about the only place (local) that they culd find to do it. Interestingly they didn't trust the speedo and were using GPS to check the speed. Once ...

randy, I dunno where your getting your info from but the catchment for the Lake certainly doesn't go that far north. Here are the drainage catchments for Australia. The Gairdner catchment (1) is in the Western Plateau Division (XII). There are no major entry points for rivers and creeks to Lake Gair...
