I'm using a manually adjusted primary drive tensioner as well. Basically a cog on a little arm that swings on a hinge with a bolt and lock nut to adjust tension.
The jackshaft stays where it is once it's mounted.

Re: theTRUTH
I won't be using pillow blocks. At least not the industrial type you see here. I've recently set up a furnace and associated equipment to start casting aluminium so I plan on making alloy housings to hold the bearings, as well as a small amount of oil. The idea is I can then move up to a two speed g...

Re: theTRUTH
Found thesand drag pics. 2 piece shaft mounted on pillow blocks with an ordinary car clutch. He later changed to a crowerglide but kept the same shaft style. http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p579/walkingpace/chain11.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p579/walkingpace/Sand%20dragger%20025%201...

Re: theTRUTH
http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p579/walkingpace/1ad56a2b88c10d08fb99b3973b8dee69.jpg Theres quite a few bits missing in this pic but it seems to also point to a two piece jackshaft design. This seems to be a common thread amongst those wishing to use off the shelf clutches. The only one piece ...

Re: theTRUTH
I'm not entirely certain on the identity of the piece you circled. These clutches often use a sliding sleeve to control progressive lockup so it might be to do with that....or it might not. Either way it is generally similar in concept to your drawing. There would have to be bearings in it but I've ...

Re: theTRUTH
Have you thought about a top fuel motorcycle clutch set up like this. https://goo.gl/images/NFzLUJ It seems to operate as you have suggested with a central solid shaft for alignment with the pulley, sprocket and clutch unit rotating around it. These bikes are good for up to 1500hp so it would be in ...

Re: theTRUTH
It may well have been Hosstyle that was making them but the website no longer exists so he may not be involved in it anymore. He was also doing the barbarian V8 bikes for a while but again, no apparent motion for quite some time. I think the D train cycles machine is the same one. The EK civic is a ...

Re: theTRUTH
Awesome project. The man who owns the original TRUTH has posted on here before under the name Vinsky. I believe it's currently in the UK somewhere. As for the clutch design, the V8 sand drag guys have built some very cool two piece jackshafts to run both ls clutches and more commonly, mini crowergli...

Another V8 bike
Seems this is becoming a thing now (which is absolutely awesome as far as I'm concerned) so here's my project. I've mentioned it a few times before but work is well and truly under way now with hopes that it will be standing on its own wheels and engine fired by October (although) still a long way f...

Re: Bike engine classes
I have just laid my hands on a quartermaster 7.25" triple disc clutch via ebay which I'm hoping to run on a two piece jackshaft behind the engine. This should be well and truly stronger than required (built for NASCAR) and solves the frontal area issue of the harley clutch hanging out the left ...

Re: Bike engine classes
That is an awesome looking bike. Am I right in assuming you are running an ordinary car clutch with a sprocket and outboard bearing on the end of the bellhousing? Would love to hear about how it rides and any issue you struck during the build. Work is continuing on mine with what is now the third in...

Yeah been meaning to do that. Will take some pics of the stuff I've done in the last few weeks then get it happening.

Holden V8 combo
G'day guys, Am just about to purchase a new rotating assembly for my V8 bike build and thought I'd run the plan past the wise heads on here to see if I have screwed anything up. My experience building engines is all with 70's Honda single cam fours so a pushrod V8 is new to me. The block is an early...

Re: Bike engine classes
I often wondered why the front end was changed. It did look amazing with the vincent forks on there though. The frame I'm working on now is quite a bit closer to the one on TRUTH as opposed to the previous attempt where the engine sat on top.

Re: Bike engine classes
That thing is awesome. By far the most beautiful V8 bike ever constructed in my eyes. As far as that torque converter is concerned did it use an engine driven pump for the fluid or was it a sealed unit? I've also heard the rear wheel was off an aircraft of some kind with a kind of freewheeling hub a...
