Awesome, that means I can do Chryslers on the Murray and the Salt Lake next year. :)

In the past few years they've been on at the same time, so it's been one or the other.

WELL DONE SEAN. I do remember those horrid little contraptions when they first came out in the late seventies. One of me mates bought one . it only took 10 minutes of riding it. he put his feet down to balance himself at some stage , & the horrid little shitbox proceedeed to run him over. not o...

I hope it's not going to have all that crap on it? :)

On a serious note though it would be a good contender for a quick salt car, just a little pricey to buy up front.

I'd had thoughts of the same setup some time back and even got as far as purchasing an NOS RTS one tonner chassis. Now though, I think a narrower track and less frontal area would be a better path to travel. If I were to do it today I'd be using a Jap pickup chassis such as a Nissan 720 or early Hi...

Rob, Bones' tip on McCulla's is spot on. I bought 1 x 6m x 50.8mm CDS @ $186.00 per length and 4 x 6m x 44.5mm @ $144.00 per length plus GST back in July 2006 for the Jag. I don't have a lot left over. There phone number is 02 9698 2959. It cuts and welds nicely with the TIG or the MIG and was easy...

Re: further....

I was thinking of you Scotty, seeings on how ya ain't gonna be fitting into a tank anytime soon.... It'd be a grouse SM feature...might be able to con some builders into the pitch................. engine would be easy, V8 plonked there between the rails, shorten an Aussie 4 speed like we did by los...

Re: well.....

Goal number two is to build a car to suit. I'm thinking streamliner or lakester because pushing a brick through the air isn't my thing. I want to go fast. .............might have already mentioned this here ( on the site) but the Reverend and I had an idea to use a Holden one tonner chassis. Add so...

My goal each year is simply to be there. I would love to build a car, and I know what I'd build, but lack the readies. Thankfully, I can afford to dream. Yep, goal number one is be there. Unfortunately Speed Week tends to be on when there's a bunch of other stuff happening. I've already told the mi...

Hearing Ross's opinions is good, don't go moving stuff around. It's a good topic the way it is.

Ross knows his stuff obviously.

Me, I'll be using mild steel because I'm a hack.

Yeah, I thought stainless was an odd choice. I'm guessing (hoping?) he's contacted one of the DLRA tech guys before going that way.

Teamleader All l see here is healthy debate and a variety of comment. This forum is the right place for that and having it out in the open all of us building cars may benefit. My 2 bob is mild steel everytime. Good design and weld quality are as important or more important. Chris Seamless or welded...

Seems to be a lot of conflicting info here. What's the go? Does the tubing have to be seamless? Given the difficulty some people have in sourcing the stuff it's obvious that many roll cage builders aren't using the stuff. Does it really matter? As James (googles) said, at some point the human body j...
