Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

If two wraps of 100mph tape increases the rating to 200mph then it is not exponential. It is linear.
Just saying...sorry, couldn't help myself.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

I cant agree more. A dyno run under load for 3 minutes should give you an idea if you have enough oil capacity. There are definitely benefits to a dry sump system with 3 gallons of oil. I know first hand how much this can hurt parts. Oil temp is generally not a problem because there is very little h...

Re: Shaguar

It is an XJL not the lowly XF. The 5ltr Supercharged SuperSport engine is staying where it is. I am getting the 7.4ltr stroker crank for the V12 ground down to Chev small journal pin size. If it cleans up at that good, we can work with piston pin heights and rod lenghts. That's where it gets interes...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

That first coat of gloss can be quite disappointing after hours of filling and rubbing back. I know I was first time around. Looks like you have done a great job of getting it straight.
Remember a roof chop makes the roof line even more visible to the discerning eye. Job well done.

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Fantastic effort. The feeling you get when you have a seemingly insurmountable problem, think about it and sleep on it for days and come up with a solution is priceless. I think that feeling of anxiety with final exhilaration is what keeps our minds active and youthful. It also provides a release fr...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Looks great. You guys don't muck around! A couple of things. I cant see the bottom seat mount properly but it looks like 3mm flat which would not be strong enough. The top seat mount could bolt into the taxi/shoulder bar. I notice the unwelded vertical bar behind the LHS of the seat- I imagine you w...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

You will need a taxi bar behind the seat to not only attach the harness to (ideally no more than 2" above or below the shoulder height/seat hole) but also to brace the back of the seat against. You look to be a long way from the gear stick and necessary controls?? I think you will definitely ne...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

With bells on! Put some thought into the cage re taxi bar, head restraint, door intrusion, larry bar, harness mounts etc. The rule book is not very clear on gussets but you will need them from the main hoop to the taxi bar at least. You will probably need to get the column, wheel, gear stick, clutch...

Re: WA rookie team have a Hudson Terraplane

Chris,
I agree. I think building the extractors was one of the most rewarding parts of the Shaguar project. Get your diameters and runner lengths right, buy the right size bends and tube, take a deep breathe and go for it!

Re: Travel from WA

I have taken the Kimba road in the last couple of years and I believe it is miles better and miles shorter if you are coming in from WA. I can send you a turn by turn kilometre reading from Kimba to the DLRA turn off for the woodshed camp if you want.
