Re: Mastec Ford GT Ute

NICE work. I love a bit of machining porn.
Wasn't beryllium aluminium banned from F1? Due to possible health problems when machining it.
Could you do a crank case for a bike :D

Re: Motorcycle build 250 tips

Easy Stayt'ie Those 2 strokes will blow the doors off any 4 stroke and they do sound good!!! Darren Why 21' at both ends? Can you get a 21" rear tire? By using a 21" front you are limiting your frontal area reduction. You need this bike to be as LOW as possible. Use a bigger front sprocket...

Re: APS-G 100

Hey boyracer If you look through the build diary you can see the bike. There is a few bikes in the diary. The weslake is another frame. Look for any pictures with a yz80 or an rs125. When I rode the bike with the 125 I didn't change the seating position and it is short for me. I am 6'1 and my son is...

Re: APS-G 100

dpleco My RS125 went 125 with me on it in road race trim with 40hp claimed --- they are small Japanese hp. I had started to put the 125 into this chassis but Alex was showing very little interest so decided to sell it. I recon this bike should go 135+ with the 125. I think I got 19hp out of the 80 Y...

Re: Bike engine classes

Hey wp Can I suggest you don't spend too much on the engine until you know that you can run it. Unless you have another use for it. Graham still has to run this past the committee and get the OK. Don't forget tire speed rating. I don't mind a bit of paint as long as I can see the welds You know you ...

Re: Bike engine classes

I guess I am the one who will be the first to inspect this . Walkingpace could I ask you NOT to grind any of the welding on the bike. I would like to see it with NO prettying up. I am on the north side of Sydney. Where on the central coast are you? You are welcome to call if you like. 02 94984124- a...

Re: It lives

Looks good Dave Are you any good with aluminium ? :-) The steering head is 750 from the ground but there is a little more to be gained with the USD-- 30mm . It all counts I machined the OD of the fork legs on the bussa so I could slide them further through the lower triple clamp. Internally they are...

Re: It lives

Whenever you read about a modern sport bike or race bike development the manufactures always talk about 'Mass Centralisation'---- All the heavy bits are between the wheels and not too high. Harky-- if you extend the swingarm a bit , about 200mm, you can fit a water tank in front of the rear wheel an...

Re: It lives

Harky I would NOT have a water tank up in the seat like that. It will give you handling problems. Dave You won't go fast if you make such big compromises( it will be harder to load) My bike is so heavy and awkward it takes 3 of us to get it on the work bench. There will always be someone to help at ...

Re: It lives

Hey Dave Looks like you will be in 'A' Why not take advantage of the wheelbase you are allowed to use. In the photo your back is too curved. The flatter the better. You could add some length to the swingarm-- 150-200mm and move your seat back and maybe lower. Also move the footpegs back which will h...

Re: 125cc 2stroke special construction

Hay Waz The RS125 was standard-- as it came off the race track. The book says 40HP. If I remember right the KTM is very similar to mine. I thought it was a 500-- I thought it was a great job. I think he used stock forks off the dirt bike--- way too long. The forks on my 350 are 560mm long. I used a ...

Re: 125cc 2stroke special construction

OK Carbon We will need pics you know. Frontal area is everything if you don't have any streamlining. What sort of forks will you use?? Maybe a girder style with streamlined carbon legs-- maybe 2 sets :-) My RS125 went 125mph in stock road race trim and me-- 185cm I think 125 should be doable with a ...
