Not long now......

I'll be up for a scenic flight.

I badly regret not doing it the last time we had a light plane on the salt (2009 ?) so I won't be missing this opportunity. Not many people can say they have been flying in a plane and been overtaken by a car or bike.

I've got a vintage t-shirt to be auctioned and a note from my mum to say I can stay up late.

I'm exited.

Keep an eye on that poxy cyclone over near Broome...........they have a nasty habit of dumping rain well inland.

Looking at the maps it seems to be similar to last year regarding the locations, with the addition of a pre-stage at the pits and some startline amendments.

Is this a fair summary?

As this year's event nears, Trent is always close by in my thoughts.

I do hope he can attend again this year.

I think moving the course back south a bit is a good idea. I went for a scoot down there while helping lay the course out in 2015 and it was hard and flat for miles eh. The other plus is that the canteen gets closer to the pits.

Just an update, I spoke with Trent at this years meeting at the racers camp, and he was full of beans and quite perky, which is heartwarming to see. He was giving his dad some good-natured stick as well.
His recovery seemed to be well in hand, and I look forward to seeing him again next year too.

It's been quite a while now since we had any news on Trent's recovery.
