Just got home from the working bee at Mt Ive, very disappointed only 4 people turned up to do a lot of work (one was not even a club member). The lake is hard and smooth, a light scrape is all it needs. Some moisture on tyres but that was due to the extreme heat drawing it up. I will be returning mid feb.for a pre race inspection. Pete. Lake condition

Post by PLUCKA »

To all
I'm heading up to the Lake for another inspection on wednesday, the full moon would have finished by then, so we should get an idea of what we are likely to encounter for March, providing no rain til then. I post on this thread wednesday night the results. I plan from here on in till speed week to do a weekly report to let people know of any changes.

:(  Well for those that have seen the radar on the national weather site you would have noticed that Woomera is getting an absolute pisselling at the moment, with reports of quite large falls from station owners around that area. I have spoken to Joy Newton tonight who said they have not had much at all and it appears to be more north. It still is my intention to leave from here in the morning and battle the track in wet or dry to report back on the Lake surface tomorrow night. We still have a month. Heres hoping

Lake condition

Post by PLUCKA »

To All interested

I arrived at the Lake at about 1:00 pm, quite over cast but no real signs of any threatening weather.
Had some lunch and admired my patrol area from the canteen. Went for a walk directly from the canteen to the salt edge and went out about 200 metres. For those that know, this spot is north of the entrance and exit ramp. Normally at this edge there can be soft spots were the salt meets red dirt, not his year. It was as hard as last year if not harder. I was struggling to hammer a masonry nail in and then decided that because I'm struggling I would infact stop.
Just before turning around to come back home it started to spit lightly, just enough to cool the air then it was gone.

The road in from Mt Ives to Gairdner is the best I have ever seen it, don't know about the road from Mt Ives to the bitumen at Iron Knob though.

Here endeth my tour of duty for the week.

This day he went on patrol to investigate the wide open spaces.
And stumbled apon the DLRA Landspeed Races.

Cause if she don't I'll swap her for more candy arse Donuts..
Don't Worry, It only seems Kinky the first time..
