I will be inspecting the lake , along with Trev, Cookey & Plucka on Feb. 20th, a final decision will be made on that day, If its still as good as it was at xmas time, we will have the best race surface for many years. Pete. DLRA #6

Good on you fellas, will there still be a working bee/party if it goes down the tube?

Cheers,

Sorry about this weeks run up to the salt I was unable to get there due to work committments. How ever as Dr G stated its been bloody hot and several days above 40. Spoke to Joy and nil change since my last Lake encounter last Wednesday. I'll be going up on Monday.

And Pluka can we have a fly report. Its been many years since there was a fly plague and I'd hate to turn up unprepared as they a'rnt very tasty.

Thanks Chris

I'm no weather man, but after watching the wet stuff slowly move thru SA and into Vic (wet as a shag here now) appears to be missing Lake G (just !)
Fingers crossed

I saw that you got a pizzelling but your correct it missed Mt Ives and the Lake. Fingers crossed. And Chris I now present my fly report. Last year there was about 10 to the T shirt, however this year the yield is quite high with approximately 50 to the T shirt. As dorky as they look I suggest fly nets and heaps of spray. I also heard cow shit smeared on the face works but I can't substantiate that.

No, you smear it all over the back of your T-shirt to keep them away from your face  ! Just remember to always face into the wind.

Plucka,

I thought that was to promote beard growth ;) thanks for the heads up. I took a net last year but never used it.

The guys we camped with dropped bacon rinds off to the side of where we camped. Said it'd keep the ants away and it sure seemed to work.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Pluka.
Been taking a fly net since 1999 and never used it. Apparently a few years earlier there was a real bad year, so bad you could'nt open your mouth without half a dozen crawling in.

I'm from a dairy farm as a kid and I personally prefer flys to cow shit.
