G'Day Jeff,
Are you wanting to camp in the Competitors camp or at the Homestead?

Camping in the Competitors Camp is restricted to DLRA members, drivers and their teams.

Spectators camp at the Mt. Ive Homestead it is located approximately 20 kilometres from the edge of the second largest salt lake in Australia, Lake Gairdner and about 3 hours fom Port Augusta. The Lake is part of a National Park and access to the lake is restricted by South Australian Government, Department of Environment and Heritage. Mt. Ive provides the only point of public access to the lake. It is also the closest point of accomodation for the many visitors, film crews and competitors to the lake.

Your hosts at Mt. Ive homestead are are Joy and Len Newton, The homestead provides accomodation at a cost of approx. $5 a night, camping fees are approx $5 per person, per day. There are also some shearers rooms available. Tents and caravans are welcome, there are a limited number of powered sites and showers. The homestead can provide a home cooked breakfast, lunch or dinner and also sells drinking water and fuel.

For booking and further information contact the homestead. Phone 08-8648-1817 or Fax 08-86481811.
Keep the shiney side up........
