Was just talking to a mate who is in Mildura and heading back to Melbourne.
Heaps of insects, locusts, mossies, flies you name it on the trip up, down as low as Ballarat.
Remember to bring your fly net and some fly screen to put in front of the radiator of your transport vehicle.

Been a while since we had a real bad year.
Maybe Pete can do a little road report from Adelaide?
Also what the flies were like at Lake Gairdner?

A shit load of hoppers up here in Tennant Creek and the grass is waist high for almost the 500kms to Alice. Perfect hopper season.
But this is a long way north

In Broken Hill , it's as if Alfred Hitchcock is making a new movie here called "The attack of the killer crickets"At night you can hear them bashing against the windows trying to get inside, My cat is sick of eating them, he just gnaws 1 leg off so he can catch 'em easier now,,even the greyhound is eating them.

Just spoke to young Trev,
locusts - no jumpers, just wooly jumpers and a few roos.
Road - First 40k's is a bit rutty, then after that quite good.

Crickets are a good source of protein Tiny, deep fried is apparently very good.

Maybe you should be joining the pets and dining on the free bounty.

I'll be happy to kiss each and every one of them if thats the only thing between us and racing this year
Oh I forgot I'm flying then getting a rental so don't have to worry.

Read a funny story at some stage on Landracing about how far and how fast you can drive a rental in reverse. Apparently some go faster than others and the only downfall is the all tend to get a bit hot after 20 or so miles but continue for some time after that. You can keep going till they start to slow before you have to point them back in the wind...... They reported on getting funny looks from other motorist that passed on the freeway while the were making the annual record attempts. Locasts in the grill made me remember that.............

Bit of rain about at the moment but it seems to be south of the lake. Wudinna had 19mm, Cleve 34mm, Whyalla 3.2mm, Pt Augusta 0.4mm and Woomera 0. The rain on the radar this morning is a few hundred km's north.
