Just got off the phone to Cled (DLRA President) they have done a lake inspection with the Native Title representatives this morning and unfortunately news is not good.

The film crew that was using the lake last week did not use our platforms as was previously reported.
They have caused considerable damage surface just off the edge of the ramp.
Also the surface from the edge of the lake is very sandy out for about 100 metres.

There has been about 25 mm of rain over the last couple of days and the forecast is for more rain in the coming days. It is currently overcast at the lake.

There will be another track inspection on Thursday morning.

I will be staying in contact with Cled each day to provide further updates.
So stay tuned to this section of forum or the DLRA Info Line - 0435 213 785

Greg

You might want to update the message on the info line. It's still an old message.

Also - I take it Cled is calling you (from the shearer's hut) for posting the update after track inspection thursday? Will you be posting the news or will you be on the road on Thursday? (sorry for all the questions)

Regards

All,
Yes you are correct Lynchy, Cled is at the DLRA camp as we speak as he had to attend the Lake at 1230hrs today to sign the MOU to allow us to race this year. :D Cled is ringing certain people from the Woolshed phone to allow updates to the webb page to keep info as current as possible.
Having said that the BOM have forcast many events throughout Australia, with all thier modern technology and still manage to get it wrong.
Maybe they have it wrong this time as well!
I would humbly suggest we all just keep aiming at arriving at the Lake and see what mother nature has to dish out.
See you all Friday! :D
Cheers,
Trevor

I'm leaving tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, early, we will have a night in Adelaide and the next night in Port Augusta.
Got some work to do on Terry O'Connell's lakester in Adelaide.
Head for the lake Friday from Port Augusta, that will be my last update.
I will be ringing Cled again tomorrow, probably a couple of times and same on Thursday. If there is any news I will update the phone first and hopefully then the forum.
If I can supply updates to the website I will, but don't count on it.
Spoke to Cled on the camp phone today, but now also have a Satellite phone number as well.

Lynchy - had to pay the bill before I could change the message.
Note: I will not be replying to messages left on the Info line.

See you all on the Salt!!

Thanks Greg!

We'll check the phone first then. We're leaving Sydney Thursday morning heading to Renmark via the Hay Plain. Then up to the Gutter Friday for supplies and on to the lake. Anyone else going this way?

Rain forcast for Nonning significantly less than yeasterday's forcast for the same period, fingers crossed the only problem will be how bad the road in will be..
big question is if cled has been on the lake after 25mm of rain how affected is it already???
Don't Worry, It only seems Kinky the first time..

I was out of bed at 3am finishing my late packing. Nathan rolled up 4am loaded to the gunnels, with the gear that took several hours to organise & load yesterday.
Looked for catch up news from those who know things, & have decided to leave heading off for 24hrs, to hopefully get a better picture from the news givers.
I'd rather be home than 1200 kms down the track toward The Lake, if the news was to turn completely bad.
We will still be there by Sat sometime.
If, when we lived in S.A.,we knew that the salt lake was to become a part of our holiday schedule, I doubt if we would have swapped the S.A. winters for the Qld ones. I'd rather drive just up the road, than more than "a cut lunch & a water bottle", distance.
Well fingers & toes crossed, here's hopeing to catch you all on the Great White Dyno, this year.

Craig.
