Woomera Rain

Post by gidge348 »

Just had a look at the radar for Woomera 10am WST 7/2/11.

Looks like a LOT of rain possibly tail end of Yasi. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR272.loop.shtml#skip

Anybody know about local rain on the lake????

Read this post - http://www.dlra.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1527

When I looked at the BOM it was only showing 10mm of rain at Woomera, that is certainly nothing to worry about.

If you look at this map http://www.bom.gov.au/sa/flood/ you will see some areas to the north west of Lake Gairdner have had between 10 - 25mm with only one area showing above 25mm.

Nonning has had a total of 27mm for February, mean temp of 34.1^ C
Woomera has had a total of 67mm for February, mean temp of 35^ C

Did you know the evaporation rate on Lake Gairdner can be 300mm per month?
Keep the shiney side up........

Woomera lists the current evaporation for Feb at 76mm
