Report from our local tour operator last week is that the track area is now dry and hard, at least as far as is visible from the shoreline.
I am planning a flight up there some time this week to confirm the "dry" bit.....

Hey all,
Went over the Lake this afternoon.
Surface is dry - subsurface is wet. Smoooooooth.
If the current weather keeps up (and there is no indication that is won't), the surface should be as good in February as is was this year.
Pictures in the next day or so once I sort them out......

Spoke with Pete Noy yesterday arvo on his way home from the working bee up at the racer's camp.
He said that they had gone down to have a look at the lake on Saturday evening and it looked great but they didn't go out very far as there was a hell of a wind blowing.
He had another quick look at midday yesterday (Sunday 29th) on the way out and there was moisture rising up from under the salt surface!!
The delay with the installation of the septic tank system is apparently due to where it will be situated on the Mt Ive Station property.
