I have spoken to a lot of members in the past week, & the general feeling is to run Speedweek in the last week of January / first week of February. Longer days that time of year will mean more runs too ! I will be officially submitting this proposal once i have spoken to more members. Pete. DLRA #6.

We better ask the moon gods as to where it will be at that time then find out when and where the AGM is to be held set it in concrete with a later backup date a lot of people have been waiting for years for a earlier meet and a backup date to be set so i would think there would be a lot of support . also as it is a full moon tonight the rising water dose not escape. but the holes i cant fix

The Race Director is available at any time and then it would be up to the Fires, Doctor.Timers Starters and the rest of the Hiraki to get together

You might like to have a look at the poll I'm running.
The purpose of this is to gauge peoples ability to attend if there were a rain date and also give their opinion as to when Speed Week should be held in the future.

glad to see the full moon is bad idea gaining creedence( sorry but I had to).....pity we don't( yet) have a record of how the lake has been on any given week...it would take someone to go over the forum and note what reports were made when...might take some time.
...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..

I'm gonna ask a dumb question.

If motors like cooler air as it is more dense wont it be counter productive to run in jan or feb when it's as hot as hades out there?

Dave

Dave I've been out there when the temp was a reported 45° and there was still records set.
And even that day it wasnt too bad, comfort wise as its a dry heat.
It might not be ideal, but at least we would be racing.

I actually believe we are suffering under the effect of another la nina event and in a couple of years it will cycle around and we will get dryer conditions in March again.

BUGGER, its happened again. I hope to see one before I cark it. OK, all jokes aside a new date, with heaps of research of course has to be worked out ASAP While we are all in a fighting mood I do think we have to stay at Lake G because all the infrastructure is there and only the date has to be changed.. I am sure great ideas will be forthcoming from all the new members and of course the regulars whom we all know.

Oh Dear , the Lake wins again . So sorry for all involved , many must be feeling a bit gutted .
But if I had travelled from NZ to the lake ( like I did last year ) I too would be really really peed off .
Ok back to the sheds and mumble grumble ......

Thanks to the Members who went to the Lake and did the Inspection,

while it is not good news at least we all know whats going on before setting off.

It is time to put forward ideas, but more importantly any of us who have time, put our hands up to assist in making some of the Ideas reality.

Stay Cool

Its a real shame that speed week has been cancelled yet again.

Who'd have thought .... drought one year ... floods the next.

So this means that everyone will have time fo those "Honey Cans" .... you know ..... hoeny can you do this, honey can you do that.......

Maybe Greg Wappling can return my videos he borrowed to convert onto DVD's for his collection ???????????
