This is all well and good but will the lake be recovered to a race able condition by April or dose it need a winter to harden up?

Im not trying to put a dampener on this but I have no idea of the life cycle of the lake.

I'd be there for sure. :D But I think the Lake is going to take a while to recover.

It is something that has to be part of the planning in the future.

As others have mentioned, I think we need a salt-ologist to step up and tell us how long does it take for a thick crust to form on the lake.

do we need mt ive to cater for us , we could be self sufficient . all this is dependent on the lake being suitable to race on of course

Yes we agree for the call of the voice of the members, but not all are forum watches or forum registered. We whole heartedly agree with the call for a second race date as a back up in the case of unforeseen circumstances. With all the effort people put into their race machines, we believe most people would move heaven and earth to be at a speed week event regardless of the date.

In 07, 08 there was a significant amount of silt washed onto the lake. We raced in 09 and 2010.

The main problem we face is the entry point, if it is thin we are in trouble, it is the last place to be useable.
Not starting a discussion on the entry point here, I am asking all newer members who are regular users of the forum to use the search fuction to see what discussion has gone on before.

We have had a few wet years, yes. Lake Gairdner is still the best salt in the world when it is dry enough to use, be patient grasshoppers.......... I have a car I can't use anywhere else... trust me,I am as interested in this as ANYONE.
...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..

Totaly agree with you Pluka , A rain out date has been years overdue, onya for making the suggestion . With over 1000 members in the DLRA who all want to race Im sure there will be more than enough people willing to help and get this happening !! Late April - An excellent back up time , cooler conditions, clear days with very little wind . A good mate ( a knowlegable local fisherman) has always asked why we dont run in April/may as this is nearly always the best time of year . THIS IS LOCAL KNOWLEDGE !!!!!! not hersay .
As a rain out date youve got my vote for sure ! Hopefully this will be enough time for the lake to dry and heal !
