Would a couple of large rotating RED roof lights on top of timing van that are switched on by the Timer when track is closed help? Seems to me the timing van roof can be seen from either end of track.
Thanks again everybody for a great week.

Awesome week!

I really enjoyed my 'volunteering' but I was unfortunately late to my gig as scrutineering took hours... I budgeted a couple of hours for scrute but it took much longer (Sunday - yes the busy day). I understand the magnitude of the event but around 2hrs on one street-based car with no special tech on board means a lot of people standing around waiting in queue behind it instead of doing other stuff.. such as tasks. There is a domino effect.
