We were quite happy with "The Sunshine State" but Peter Beattie, the former premier, decided that Queensland should and would become the epicentre of Australian high technology industry so we got lumbered with the stupid plates. I haven't seen any indication that his grand plan ever got off the ground. He couldn't even fix the roads and when he left he gave us Anna Bligh  . Thanks a bunch, Pete.

Yup, and now we got "Little Joe",, at least the roads (as approved by Anna Bligh :D ) are getting fixed, maybe by all the public servants that hes sacked,

I was finishing up a road project at Goodna when Newman came in. I was dealing with guys from Transport daily and got their perspective. They got swept clean like everywhere else and they cleaned out Roadtek as well - so no, the roads aint getting fixed and new roads that aren't already in progress got knocked on the head as well.

Fair Warning
The tone of this thread has declined to the extent where as a moderator of the forum I will be forced to move some posts to the offline area or at worst delete them. I'll give it another 24 hrs and if things do not improve I will be forced to act.
We all like a bit of fun, but this forum represents the Dry Lakes Racers Australia, these posts do not add value to dry lakes racing in Australia and I really don't think some of this stuff should remain for all to see.
Keep the shiney side up........

To put it clear & simple Animal the SATA is not working against the DLRA.or working with the DLRA :? :o
We (the SATA Committee) are currently at an advanced stage of negotiations to secure a long term and privately owned land based (not lake :? ) venue that we (SATA) will have total control over :o .
This is not a remote area :? but is readily accessible with full facilities and accommodation nearby.
This will enable us to conduct several meetings (if supported) each year and test & tune sessions etc.
This site will have the potential to eventually run events up to 1 mile (such as the Maxton & Texas Mile etc.) and will only be affected by immediate weather (no flooding risk at all) :D :D :D :D :D :D :? :?:
The basis of the arrangements being negotiated is that a South Australian based organization will run the venue and initially the plan is to cater for racers only with no provision for the general public.
The potential venue has the propensity to attract high performance and GT type race (and classic street) cars & bikes that would never contemplate running on the salt but as has already been stated, would be prepared to run on such sites as Lake Omeo.
This will naturally require some rules and regulations not applicable to the DLRA requirements and as such will be specific to the venue.
Our plans are for the SATA to be self funding and as a state based body qualify for development and promotional grants etc.
Finally, we will not be making any further announcements, nor canvassing membership of the SATA until such time as we have secured this and or another venue within South Australia. :? :o
Please be assured that we are being secretive or subversive about our operations at this time but we are determined not to" blow our trumpets too soon"    :roll :? :? :? :? :? :
yep yep yep  animal

I'm still waiting for my membership form! The car is nearly finished and I have my own dunny witch I'm willing to share with any other sata members, after a very unfortunate accident when I was a teenager I do have a very flat nose so I guess I could join the flat nose club as well, it happened at a school sports day we were in the grand final of the tunnel ball when an out of control Morris 1100 ran into the back of the team, old stink George "cardinal pell" had a but plug in and as a result my nose was pushed flat! On the upside I still get Christmas cards from him.
Cheers holden1
