This will seem pretty insignificant to most, but for me it was beating the Yanks record for the VW 36hp Challenge on salt.
I managed 78.3 MPH with my 1956 brown Beetle. I beat the record on salt by 0.5 MPH. That was my thrill of the week.
The first day was pretty hot, and our cars ran like shit. At that time the highlight was going to be seeing Animal in his undies........That speaks volumes as to how down I was feeling.
Thank God things turned out better.

My special moment was marshalling at the start line and being able to wave Trevor Slaughter away on his first long course run. After only three runs he made 253.7mph with plenty more to go. After helping build the car for two and a half years it was fantastic to see it accelerate away from the start faster than any of the bikes! Good onya Trev, I can't wait for next year!

Keep at it John, a record is a record. You should borrow the motor out of Stephen Muller's 117mph Kombi and smash your way into the 1 Club!

Cheers
Dave :D

The highlight of the week for me was walking up to the back of the ambulance and seeing that bloody idiot Brett with a shit-eating grin on his face.

Just a few to add to those Posted above

I think Dave Bolger upping the MPS 250 record by 10mph to 131mph is worth a mention :D

And Ron your 198 on an open Bike got my attention almost as much as watching Ross Brown's reaction to your 191 run earlier in the week.

Hearing Cookey say that Brett went 240mph through the first Timed Mile and then hearing a gear change. (What happened after that was not a highlight).

and last but not least was Goggles going 215 8)

Congrats to everyone that had a go!!!

Pete :D :D
Still trying to decide if I am a procrastinator

Johnny Feaver running a new record in his first attempt at salt racing at 73 years old
John Ladbrook going for it on his turbo Suzuki at 74 years old &
watching the ducting blowing off of my ram air and falling inbetween the forks and the frame at around 175mph

Three runs, 3 records.
Within .911mph of the Chock Full of Nuts C/PP record after rolling the last 300m.
That did it for me

The highlight for me was Brett coming away relatively unscathed from his high-speed off. Mucho relief.
Anytime someone gets dealt a good hand like that makes me happy.
I can't wait to see Brett have another crack at it either.

Cookey - whoever leaves the meeting or doesn't attend gets the action items - it's a rule in business.

Graham
That would be pretty funny if it wasn't true!
The highlight of the 2013 meet was:
Working my guts out (with Rob) getting the car ready
Working my guts out (with Rob) getting the bus ready
Driving a school bus 2000km. Unregistered, loaded, and not being nicked
Rolling the car out of the bus and doing five back to back runs with no dramas (almost)
Setting a C/BFMS record with my 80 year old man in the push car
Getting the whole rig home safe
It was a very good year!
