I think we are just going for a Visual Class Inspection in 2014, no capacity checks, as far as I am aware.

Small steps at this stage.

Would that be your air pump Grumm?
Having trouble getting my head around measuring cylinder volume using a compressable medium? :?: :?: :?:
Could this pump double as a solid waste disposal unit ?
Nope
I can't get my head around the whole air pump idea for a small displacement motor.
I hadn't planned to take any measuring equipment to the lake next year

7YOUR WAY THROUGH IMPOUND...

Once you have completed your motorcycle "RECORD" run , make your way to impound...
It will be situated at the other end of the scruitinering bays, It will be shaded and well marked
the first thing you will need to do is push a card through the punch clock as pictured..

Image

you have 30 minutes to make it from the end of your run to the punch clock..

If you are in gasoline class you will need to provide a fuel sample from your tank.
this sample will then be checked for specfic weight.

Image

Today at 30 degrees C in Brisbane
Standard unleaded fuel currently weighs in at .737 (uncorrected temperature )
For comparison sake ,methanol weighs in at .788 (uncorrected )

Image

Will do some comparrisons to come up with a allowable percentage ..
If you have doubts of your fuel .. Impound will be happy to check it before you run..
If you are over , all you need to do is change class ..

Will also check that your body and frame are correct for class.

If I build and tune my bike to Gas class and use United Premium 100 and the it fails I cant just change class. The bike wouldn't comply with Fuel class. I want to run in the Gas class and need to know if the Gas I want to tune my bike to is going to be eligible or not. Simples.

Thanx

Hey Ross
With our new super dooper timing system won't there be a time of day on the timing slip and the 1/2 hour starts from then.
I'm not too keen on the bundy clock--- it's like work

RGV
You are wright--- make sure you have the correct GAS in your bike

Ross looking at the range of racing petrol from VP the specific gravity ranges from 0.695 to 0.805.......methanol and ethanol also are within these ranges as well ....may work for pump petrol for production classes as it should not exceed 0.77 ...but racing blends or ethanol blends will be higher .....testing using specific gravity only is not going to fly .....and then there is the problem if fuel is contaminated with water as this will give higher readings as well. just some concerns
cheers

Missed a detail ..
The change from gas class to fuel class ...is fire resistant lines or fire sleeves.
If you think your fuel is suspect ... prepare yousellf ....
If a competitor is caught by surprise ,fire sleeve will be available for purchase..

Bones
Yes .
Time of day will be on the timing slip.. the punch clock will allow us to cross referance the thirty minutes.

Good reminder on fire resistant lines
mine are currently braided hose,
whats your take on this Ross?
it was accepted as fire resistant at WOS, Bubs and FIM in 2012 and 2013 but now i see Matt S made a comment that the SCTA want coverings on this now ?

Gregg
Currently braided lines are accepted by the DLRA as fire retardent lines ..
But "YES" A rule change on this is inevitable .. 2015 might see covers on them.

The other change from gas class to fuel class is the ability to turn of the fuel without taking your hands off the handlebars
And you don't have to run a fancy fuel in it to run in fuel class. It just means your fuel wont be tested, and your tank wont be sealed?
You are going to seal tanks aren't you Ross? or some unscrupulous competitor might change their fuel in that 30 minutes

Seal not only the filler? There's more than one way of getting Gas/Fuel into and out of ya tank. ;)

Most competitors will not have made provisions for sealing their tanks. (next year maybe )
Impound will let it slide for this year..
But be warned ... this year there will be track spotters , part of their job will be watching out for
unscrupulous behaviour on the return roads..

Just on the time slip thing. The time of day will be on the time slip, but the time slip will be in the caravan for quite some time before heading back to the pits...
