Lots of time for the roads to dry, that sand couldn't hold water for more than a few hours
they just need to put back the stuff that moved

Even though were not racing this yr i am realy looking forward to this meeting,

Cled has spoken to Mt. Ive Station again this afternoon. They had 44mm of rain on Friday. Once again this is no problem for us and is actually a blessing as it will settle the dust.
We will be enquiring about getting the road graded and or any washouts repaired in preparation for speed week.
All systems GO!

As already pointed out - very, very wet here.

I'm planning to fly over the Lake on Sunday. I'll report back tomorrow evening.

Cheers!

Have a good flight Scott,
On the S.A. Govt website it shows the roads leading to Lake G (From Iron Knob etc.) are closed , can you maybe have a look and see how bad they are??

the following link has pictures of the lake from 16th feb

http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/

It is a bit tricky to drive and I have to take off so I shall say this only once...

Need to register an account - free
Search for Lake Gairdner and size it the way you like
Select use map for position (this will take your map view and find pictures related to that)
Then in the data feild use TIRS as the search term (this is the thermal imaging)

It will generate a list of images to down load and the last one is the 16th Feb.

When I am back I will post the pics I have - very cloudy and looks like water there, however there are not reference points I can see (due to cloud) so I can't tell what I am looking at.

The pics are 5 meg each but here is a screenshot that might help

edit: I worked out to view these in their relation to the race track but I need some software called ArcGis - fortunately I can get this through work for free but it may take a few days to get it installed (as I have to wait on the IT dept). I'll post the results when I have them...

Hey all,

Sorry I didn't get back here last night.

I took a very pleasant flight over the Lake on Sunday morning. The entire racing surface is covered with water, however (within the limitations of looking from 500 feet) it didn't seem more than a few inches deep. Other people may have a better idea based on how much shoreline remains dry. The weather is forecast to remain mostly sunny - but remaining mid-20s during the week then 30-32 over the weekend.

I'll keep an eye on it and will do another flight over next weekend.

Cheers!

Thanks Scott,

Looks like we need a ground crew to have a look.
Is it getting hot again or has the rain dropped the temp?
