DLRA RADIO 92.0 on your FM dial

Post by DLRA »

Yes that's right! It's only taken us 25 years, but this year you will be able to listen to the dulcet tones of DLRA's very own DJ, Dr. Goggles!

We have purchased an FM transmitter, so anyone within range will be able to catch up with all the latest news via their car radio. This should make things a lot easier/better for announcements than the UHF radios we have been using in previous years. Your still welcome to bring and use your UHF radios, but all official general broadcasts will be on the FM radio for 2015. At this stage we will be using 92.0 on the FM band.

Note: The club has 2 closed private bands that they use for communications between starters, timers and other officials.

DJ Goggles

Will you be bringing the wheels of steels and dropping the bass or just your banjo? Be nice, I'll be sitting next to you all week!

I would expect so, you still may need to communicate with officials etc

The licenced private UHF radio system has been specifically set up for DLRA officials and fire and emergency crews to communicate.

Everyone sharing the one channel just did not work, there was lots of unnecessary chatter and people leaving the channel open that in the end made it impossible to use for official communication.

It is still a requirement for all competition support vehicles to be fitted with a UHF radio set to channel 10 (as well as a flashing light, fire extinguisher and spill kit). Many DLRA officals will still be carrying a standard UHF radio to communicate with competitors and competitors are free to use this channel for their own purposes.

The new FM transmitter has been purchased in response to consistent requests to provide such a service and we anticipate information about who is running and the speeds they achieve will be the majority content to all listeners, but it will also be used for alerts and as a secondary source for important communications to competitors.

Hope this helps.

Yep you still need to have your UHF radio in your support vehicle
It is also important that it is turned on
this is so we (more specifically Club Animal) can communicate with you if your race vehicle has some issues regarding race vehicles and O'Tooles law

They make it
I make it work
