Speedweek 2016

Re: Speedweek 2016
Road Conditions.
Been asked a few times today about the road in. We had a crew go out yesterday to do a lake inspection.
The road from Iron Knob to the turn off to Mt. I've (Kingoonya Road) is very good and was recently graded.
The road from the turn off to the DLRA camp turn off is OK.
The DLRA camp road and the road down to the lake is rough.
We already have a plan in place to drag huge tyres on this stretch each day. We have used this technique before and it really improves the road.
There is one set of tyres there now and we are taking over another set, due to arrive on Saturday.
We may drag out to the turn off at Kingoonya Road if required.
If anyone sees the tyres and they have a 4WD they are more than welcome to drag them in or out.

Re: Speedweek 2016
Where can I find the results & pictures?
I thought there would be something on here by now!

Re: Speedweek 2016
Most of the volunteers and officials were either still working or traveling today and will need to get home before they post anything on the forum.

Re: Speedweek 2016
As per the above post most would still be packing up or on the way home and given there is no or poor net coverage at the salt we have to wait for information to be posted when they get home. The results would need to be checked no doubt before all is posted.luke111 wrote:Where can I find the results & pictures?

I did hear that Lionel West went 271 MPH but that will need to be confirmed.

Re: Speedweek 2016
Thanks PJQ2 for the pics. Great work!
I was expecting more spectators to put up pictures. I understand that the organisers are busy after the event.
After watching Out Of Nothing, I've been inspired to build a bike for next year.
I'm just interested to hear if any records were broken and to look at some pics to get some ideas.
I'll just have to wait I guess....

Hi Luke111,After watching Out Of Nothing, I've been inspired to build a bike for next year.
There's another section of the forum for Build Diaries. Post your thoughts and ideas there, plenty of wisdom and encouragement will come from people that have built something close to your plan. There's serious bike expertise hanging out on this forum... and then there's dills like me: replaced a faulty old kill switch - managed to wire in a short circuit - flattened a new battery while away at Speedweek. Ahrrr.
Oh yeah - top priority - get hold of a current rule book

Hi Luke111,
There are pics and record info for previous years on the main website (link below). This year's event page has some record updates, no pics yet.

Yep, been sitting on my fat arse doing absolutely nothing.....luke111 wrote:Where can I find the results & pictures?
I thought there would be something on here by now!
Saturday 5th March we left Lake Gairdner around 10 am and travelled all day to end up at Overland Corner at 8 pm. Exported the results from the timing computer on the bus.
Sunday 6th March Overland Corner (10 am) to home (11.30 pm) via Faraday (8.30 pm)
Monday 7th unpack, wash, get all the paperwork sorted, answer the last 13 days of emails, import results for 3 tracks into new 2016 page,
add summary for the week, save some of the photos from Facebook to post on the 2016 web pages, start correcting miss-identified vehicles, start attributing records, this will probably take another 2 days.
Then another day to identify 200mph club members and achievers.
Then start adding photos.
Oh, and at some stage, I have to go to work.
Keep the shiney side up........
