Hi all. Just wondering on the condition of the lake seeing that there has been rain over there. Fingers cross that it has all bypassed the lake.

Hi Norm.

Here's a linky to Mt. Ive daily weather observations : http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/IDCJD ... test.shtml

It looks like they had the weekend off (beer-induced? ) then started recording again.

Cheers.

That equates to 2/5ths of F/All or .0625 of F/All for the younger members.

I have been watching the BOM rain radar, it appears the southern (our end) of the lake has had a lot more rain than whats been recorded at Mt Ive

For heaps of weather information check this page as often as you like

http://www.dlra.org.au/weather.htm

For a long range forecast I've been using a thing called CliMate there's an app for iPhone users or a website for the rest of us. Uses historical data to to 1928.

Here is the latest LandSat view of Lake G. taken on Feb 11th .....

Also I have little Spreadsheet that I enter MT Ive Monthly Rainfall Data to compare each Year

So far there has been 184mm LESS Rainfall at this point than the Lake had last year .....

Happy to post the Spreadsheet up here I don't know how to share/attach it to the Forum .....

Keep an eye on that poxy cyclone over near Broome...........they have a nasty habit of dumping rain well inland.

Hey all,

I ran into Joy Newton (owner of Mount Ive) in the local roadhouse this morning.

The lake is dry..... very dry.
The road is good, it was graded a few months ago.
They are really looking forward to us getting up there.

Now..... GET BACK TO WORK ON YOUR VEHICLES!

Got back last night from a visit to the lake . Its DRY with no standing water!! very hard and looking excellent :D . Its not quite as flat as last year with small salt mounds of 6mm or so but its looking really good. The Ramp is hard and dry .
Mt Ive was 14c at 7am and was covered in low cloud yesterday morning . It maybe stinking hot through the day but it can defiantly cool down at night so chuck in some warm clothes too.
I came down via the Stuart highway ,Glendambo, Kingoonya to Mt Ive. This road is pretty chopped up in places and would be pretty rough towing a van or trailer. The road from Mt Ive to Iron Knob is in great condition in comparison.
The outback is fairly green and it must of been a good season for wildlife. Roo,s ,Emu,s , Goats, Sheep and Wedgetail Eagles are everywhere so look out for them.
